Working on a 97 psd really hard start after sitting for a day or two and runs rough until engine reaches operating temp but after it warms up it runs great. Same issue if left inside heated shop. I've already checked the obvious gps, gpr, valve cover harness etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Check the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator screen too....although that wouldnt explain why it would run fine when it hit normal operating temp.Check fuel presure? It does sound like a gp issue.....with the hard start.
Fuel pressure regulator screen is inside the fuel bowl....top drivers side.Remove the (17mm or 19mm)bolt on the side of the fuel bowl at that location.Slide the spring out and theres two pieces of plastic with o-rings ...pull that out and clean the screen off, reassemble.nasautomotive sells a rebuild kit for the fuel system,it comes with 9 or 10 new o-rings about $15.While your in there clean the fuel bolw out...that centre stand is reverse thread. All that crap under the fuel heater is on its way to the fpr screen.Greg
I cleaned the fpr screen and fuel pressure at the fuel bowl is within specs the oil pressure is also showing good on my scanner. The oil has been changed within the last 500 miles so i doubt that is the problem. What else should i be looking for? Thanks for all your suggestions so far i just wish this engine wasn't in a damn van lol
It was the gpr i ruled that out cause it was brand new and had power at both posts but when i found out from the customer they got it from checker i replaced it with a napa gpr110 and it fired right up
