Anyone run their exhaust to the center and dump it over the rear axle? If so please post up a picture, I am thinking about doing this but I wanna know if anyone has had any issues/problems with this as far as with law enforcement or smoking out the cabs of the truck or anything. I wonder how it sounds hitting the ground like that.
Yes or no?
Keep exhaust out passenger side corner behind rear wheel or center over axle dump?
I hand built a custom exhaust for my truck that comes out in the center rear. I love the way it looks and very few people have an exhaust setup like that. Im removing mine and going to stacks though because I tow alot and it sucks spending hours detailing a boat to have it filthy by the time you get to the lake. Also, depending on your local emissions testing facility, and how they test, it might not be legal. In AZ your exhaust must exit from under the vehicle and mine stopped just after the rear axle. I have a big lift so there was plenty of room for the tester to get under there but he told me that not everone would be so willing to bend the rules for me in the future. As far as pics, my truck is all apart getting a frame up, so I cant take any pics....
theres a few videos on you tube. the trucks at work dump out right before the rear axle and theres no problem with exhaust in the cab there as long as its pointed down you should be fine
Cool, thanks for the info NotStock, much appreciated. Ground up resto huh, sounds time consuming and expensive. Yeah the only thing that gets me about it is sooting whatever I'm towing. I have a bed cover and use my bed quite often so stacks wouldn't work for me. Maybe I'll just keep it in the stock location then so I don't dirty up the atv's, boat, race car ect..
Right on. What gears you going with and what brand and where get them from if you don't mind me asking. ARB are expensive, but nice to have. I'd like to get a kit one day if I can afford it.
ill be putting in 4.56 since im not planning on going smaller then 40'... im also very tempted on going 4.30's so i can get better highway mpg but my shift points will be off.. they will be off no matter what but they will be more on with 4.56 gears.... as for brand it depends on what size i go with.... because 4.30's are getting harder to find in a good quality brand.. but if i get 4.56 prob go with precision gears with their master install kits...
I dumped mine after the axle instead of putting the tailpipe peice on my 4" exhaust. I also took my spare tire out and I made sure that I kept the heat away from the brake lines on my axle.
It has a sick echo under the bed and it makes it so much louder in the cab.
I really like the sound, and I put the tailpipe on for a few days but it just didnt sound the same, so I guess I'll keep it under the truck for a while.:thumb:
I can't wait to get it done, I wanna hear the difference and the echo and how much louder in cab it will be. I think I'm gonna use a 4" to 6" stainless tip that's 18" in length to really get some good sound out of it rather than a 12" length tip. Between under the bumper and muffler delete, should be quite the difference.
i cut mine off right after the downpipe and welded a turndown on it ... its nice and loud ... i love it lol ... i dont think my neighbors like it tho lol
That would be a little loud but I would think you lose some low end from not having longer exhaust. No back pressure like out the back.
Nice front lower bumper piece you got, different. I never liked those hood scoops though, everyone has them and some people put them on backwards and they are non functional.
Ran mine from DP to 4" to 5" with a turn down just infront of the rear shock (upper) mount. Was loud.....the only short coming was soot on everything.....changed it out to stock location with 4" and a SS Resonator to take out the hash bark like this the best..
MY buddy actually fried his lines on his rear axle from having his exhaust this way....not to mention that he has the biggest lead foot ive ever seen. It does sound and look pretty wicked though,
It also helps to blow smoke at those idiot drivers too!
