I have an 08 F250 CC SB with 23K on it. What is the normal time for these engines to break in? I am hoping the mileage will get better when is it broken in.
You might see 1 or 2 mpg better if you're lucky. If you want decent mileage you need to do the DPF delete and get the cork out of the exhaust. Let us know if you need anything.
^^^What he said. Spartan tuner with dpf delete is the popular choice and has been the leader in 6.4 tuning. dpfdeletekits.com will help you out. The savings in fuel will pay for the tuner and pipe very quickly.
So very true....first tank with spartan was actually worse LOL but, it was all my fault. I couldn't help myself, if a kid on a bike looked at me silly that first tank I puffed smoke
Thanks for the information by the way. I drove another brand for a number of years and was really spoiled by the mileage. The working power of that other truck was awesome but it rattled like crazy. I bet you can guess which one it was. Awesome drive train, crappy body.
Takes most people about 1 hr. to return to stock. I know somebody will chime in with "I can do it in 30 min." But if you give yourself about an hour you can take your time.
That is if your lucky enough to be able to do the "back to stock" in your driveway/garage. If you are unlucky enough to need work on the truck 1000 miles away from your stock DPF/CAT you are out of luck.
And since most of my miles are far away from home on vacation the DPF/CAT delete gamble is not worth it to me until my warranty is gone.
I travel ALOT for work and my remidy for this situation was to put the dpf in my toolbox and carry it around with me where ever I go. If I ever have issues, I call AAA wait the 45 min for them to arrive, in the meantime Im under the truck putting the DPF back on. It is kind of a pain in the butt to have the DPF in the toolbox, but it works for me!
jmelendy, its a good point that you make about being where your stock parts are. I think I have decided to go with the Spartan though. I appreciate all of the input from the group.
Nope I havent had to do it, havent had my truck long enough to have to do it. But yes you just put it back to stock programming and pull the DD off of your dash and to the dealer you go. This was also the reason why I only did the DPF delete and not the full doc/dpf delete... DPF is big but not hard to carry around, an entire exhaust system is though haha.
no wing nuts here, I carry a full set of tools with me, but im sure that would be easier but damn the tech would have a hayday if my truck showed up like that.
blackcloud2k, what kind of mileage are you getting out of the Spartan tuner?
