The heats not working, blows out nothing but cold air. The temp gauge reads warm, but the upper rad hose stays cold. Im thinking t-stat, what do you guys think?
changed the t-stat. the hoses get warm now even going in and out of the heater core, but doesn't blow warm air. if i turn the inside stat to cold, it def gets colder, but on hot it just barley warmer than the out side temp. ANy suggestions?
is that the part you can see if you take the glove box out? if so yes that moves back and forth when the temp is switched. I just flushed the heater core, and same result.
My guess would be Thermostat....be careful taking bolts out and tightening them...steel bolts in aluminum is a disaster waiting to happen...i broke a bolt off tightening it and it was not pretty....
already did a t stat. everything is hot now, just doesnt blow hot air. I think a door or something is messed up. There is really nothing else it can be.
Hmmm..My buddy has the same problem in his jeep and the dealer said it was his Vents as odd as that sounds....Im not sure how it could be the Vents in your truck but maybe someone on the forum here can go off this?? have you tried calling Ford? Also I had a F-150 where the Actual Dial that controls the heat broke and wouldnt turn the prong on the Controller...try pulling off the dial and seeing if its turning.. might have to use pliers to turn it...sometimes the dials will crack just a little bit and it will slip off and not turn the heat dial...even tho it feels like is turning it...just a couple thoughts...
but if the heater hoses are warm wouldn't that mean the heater core is working? behind the glove box, were the heater core is is really warm if you touch it with your hands.
well put a heater core in it. thank god it was easy and cheap, cause it didn't do crap. The hea checked when the heater core was out. Im lost I have no more ideas, except to but a ceramic cigar lighter heater.
I remember on a Ford Chassis Motorhome with the electric heater Valve, I just opened the valve manual and disconnect it. It was a V10 gas 2001 Chassis.
If the inlet and outlet hose is warm and no hot air comes out, the flaps are not opening to let cold air in, recirculating the air or not letting warm air out thru the windshields, center, and foot area.
I don’t know if yours work manual or electric, but this is where I would start checking.
well the flap that is inside the heater box is working. I checked it when I had the heater core out. where are the rest of the flaps that I would need to check?
It looks like all Flaps are vacuum operated. In the motor compartment, right (passengerside) side is a Vacuum cup with hose, just under the windsheeld. This looks to me is the outside inlet. Try to disconnect it and swing it over. I am not sure if this will fix the problem.
Good luck.
Mine just had the same trouble. Mine ended up being the blend door, it moved but there was a pen stuck in it so it did not close tight and would blow cold. took me a while to feel it up there double check theres nothing stuck in there
onequicktang,
Can you give me a quick brief on how you pulled the heater core in yours? Did you have to pull the dash at all? I'm about to do one myself but really have no idea how lol.
thanks again,
matt z
just push the two tabs on the glove box let it fold all the way down and theres 6 screws i believe and theres the heater core. its easy.
