Sounds like a short, or a power spike to the circit to that bulb. If you are running high power bulbs, without the proper relay, or upgraded harness you can have problems like that.
i always read that make sure that you are not getting any oil from your fingers on the bulbs, so i try to install em with gloves or a soft rag to keep that from happening.
I suggest replacing the light bulb again with a latex or nitrile glove on. Basically the type fo gloves worn by physicians this way you have no chance of getting any of your skin oils on the bulb. I am thinking that is your problem your skin is touching the bulb there for putting your skin oil on the bulb causing the ulb to blow prematurely.
not to be a smart a@@,but i thought that was covered in the install instructions on the package. thought that was a gimme, but then i deal with these type bulbs everyday so its nothing new for me.
yea i keep my hands covered placing them in. I've always known to do that. I put my stock bulbs back in the truck and they wont blow for nothing. I guess it was the wattage thing. I hate the stock bulbs. they are 65/55, what can i do to where i can run my 100/80 bulbs without blowing them?
From past experience here at the dealership, the connector is more than likely "burnt", causing high resistance and burning out your bulbs. This is a fairly common thing we go through here. You can purchase a "pigtail" harness to correct this problem. Remove the connector and look at the "female" side of it.... more than likely will be black, or dark brown "burnt". Hope this helps.
I think the problem you may be haveing is from vibration, those 80/100's I'm sure get warm, and the filiment becomes a little fragile, that would be my only guess. I think if you had a bad harness, ground, short or whatever, you would blow every bulb you put in there no matter the wattage, but since it's only the hotter ones, thats what I'm guessing.
Your local Ford dealership will more than likely have a "pigtail" harness for you.
