hello, i have a 2008 i'm interested in putting in a intake and programmer, so from the readings i see that s&b wont give to many if any codes... now any sugestions on programmer for a 08 f250 6.4? also is it possible to change programs back to stock incase i have to bring it in to a dealer?
Yes, you can easily go back to the stock settings with whichever tuner you choose. I would recommend either the Spartan or SCT Livewire. We have both in stock along with S&B intakes and any style exhaust system you would like. Check out DPF Delete Kits for Ford Powerstroke 6.4 & GM Duramax LMM. Let us know if we can help in any way!
what has to be done when you put the dpf delete kit? does this void any type of factory warranty? will the car give me any engine codes when you do that so its not cleaning the exhaust filter? kinda lost of what to do with the dpf...
When you remove the DPF, you run a tuner (Spartan, H&S, SCT), DPF delete exhaust, and if you choose, a cold air intake. The tuner will allow for the removal of the DPF without any codes. If you did this, you would need to put everything back to stock before going to the dealership. MOST dealerships are not modification friendly, so they would void your warranty for removing the DPF and tuning the truck. Most dealerships don't like cold air intakes either. You can get around the whole warranty issue....it just takes a little work on your part. The fuel mileage and power are worth it in my opinion though.
ok sounds good, what about a dpf/cat delete kit with a sparta programmer, will that take care of all engine codes? anything more tech. in volved with the instal of the dpf/cat delete then a regular dpf kit? thanks for all the help
I purchased everything from Aaron, if you have questions when ordering he will take the time and explain, if you have to leave a message he will call you back within minutes, he also has great prices.
The install is really simple. I personally believe that a full 4" downpipe back exhaust is the easiest thing to install and remove if needed. That way your able to take out the entire stock exhaust system together and then put in an entire bolt on aftermarket exhaust system. As for the sensors, you use the sensors that are in the DPF and DOC (cat) for the delete exhaust. The DPF/DOC deletes have the bungs for the sensors prewelded in.
I dunno what it's doing, but I can tell you guys this.
When I hook the IDS up to a vehicle, the VCM (the box that lets the laptop talk to the car/truck) goes HAYWIRE with data transfer.....as well as the wireless internet connection on the laptop.
I don't know what is being sent to Ford when this happens, but you can bet something about your vehicle is going. It's not necessarily up to the dealer to void anyone's warranty, it is generally up to the Corporate division. So if your calibration ID doesn't match the calibration the truck is supposed to have in it, bad things will likely occur, and likely not even on a level the dealer tech will even know about. You'll just catch "Warranty Coverage Canceled" on an OASIS report, or something along those lines. Again, I don't know this for sure, this is merely speculation.
Just sometimes -- the data that gets transmitted without you or me ever knowing about it is more than you wanna think about.
From what I understand, our warranty claims are going to soon start being paid by what the IDS log shows we did for diagnosis -- it will record each test we do, and we get paid based on that, no lying or cheating. The IDS log goes right to Ford and we get paid based on the recording.
This is what I have been told, I am unsure if it is true or not.
Not really. You can run the Spartan DPF on tunes. Some guys have reported 0.5-1.5 mpg increase, but that is about as good as will get if it gets any kind of gain.
It will potentially increase regneration, which will decrease fuel mileage. The problem with the Hypertech is that the only way you can remove the DPF is with a DPF-R. The DPR-R for the Power Stroke is a piece of crap from what I understand. I have heard of multiple people having the issue where the truck tries, and will still go into regen while the DPF is off the truck.
I understand but once you remove DPF doesn't that cause a warranty issue. If I just leave the Hypertech in I can always reprogram the stock settings before I take it in for service. Can Ford detect the change? I just wanted to make sure the program doesn't cause the DPF to stop functioning or to malfunction and then cause an issue that would void the warranty.

Removing the DPF will only cause a warranty issue if you take your truck to the dealer with it removed. You can return the Hypertech to stock, but there is always that chance that the dealer can detect the truck has been tuned no matter what tuner you run. The Spartan tuner is SUPPOSED to be the least traceable. The Spartan tuner also has 4 DPF on tunes that should be cleaner running tunes than the Hypertech tuner. The Hypertech tuner will not cause the DPF to stop functioning, but it can diminish the life of the DPF. Hope this helps.
the S&B is a good route... I highly suggest the H&S tuner for your truck.. and then the H&S downpipe back exhaust... I can get you some killer deals if you havent bought yet... if you are on a budget, I can also do the SCT livewire with custom tuning, and just a DPF delete pipe... let me know if I can be of any assistance
5 hr drive just to show someone that they should never underestimate their opponent? yeah I dont think so... but you are welcome to come and buy me some drinks in scottsdale, az....
i do prefer AIRAID for good reason... I have seen their in house testing in person and saw how other filters performed against them... but anyway we can go back on topic so someone doesnt take the joking as being serious and get all pissed off? LOL
My bad. So your Fummins probably wouldn't hang with my truck currently :dunno: Unless you think it can run high 12's....
