I'm planning to install a set of gauges in my 08 F350 for next year when I do some heavy towing. I have looked at lots of the kits both analog and digital and think I want to go with the digital look. The one question I have is how reliable are the EGT monitoring they can do just off of the ODBII port? I'm not really comfortable tapping the exhaust manifold myself and have no idea what a skilled person would charge to do it for me.
I'm assuming the Trans temp would be fine off of the ODBII port and boost just for fun
I'm running an Edge to delete the DPF right now, going to try the H&S next, and have been told the Egt monitoring is very accurate. I pull huge loads and I have found some interesting things out about the factory gauges. The temp gauges in the dash are completely worthless, I have had my engine over 210 deg. and the dash gauge still reads on the cool side of the middle, and the same on the tranny!!!! I don't know what Ford calls hot,but I really don't want to find out! The factory boost gauge is right on with the EDGE, and I think the EGT's are pretty good with the EDGE, you won't believe how fast they can drop. I wish I had installed it with the DPF on just to compare EGT #'s with my DPF delete #'s. I really want to know what kind of #'s they run during regeneration and you are pulling a hill??? Anybody seen these EGT #'s? You will love the monitoring capabilities you will have, I think you can take much better care of your engine and tranny with one of these tuners and monitors. Good luck!:thumb:
