Recently picked up a 2006 38ft Raptor Toy Hauler but needed a lot of work on the trucks and the trailer in order to get her home. We added Air Bag kits to both trucks, updated 3rd axle trailer brakes, steering stabilizers, rails for the Reese 16k sliding hitch and had to have the trailer lifted 6 inches so the 02 with a 6in lift could haul it without problems.
We brought it home with the Red 01 short bed and didnt run into any problems what so ever, and even though I'm in the process of putting a BTS in this truck because the current trans is not holding up she did really well! Pulled a 2 mile long 8% grade and never dropped below 68 MPH and the truck is not tuned or chipped right now because the BTS trans isnt in the truck yet! As well as 9.8 MPG average over the 180 mile trip home, can't wait for the BTS so I can get my custom tunes on and really see what shes got.
My love for the 7.3 has grown so much pulling this 5er! Can't get to photo bucket or anything like that on my work machine so I attached this crappy pic for now.
I would like to eventually do a gooseneck setup on both trucks and the trailer but have heard rumors about pulling this much weight with a gooseneck converstion is not a good idea. Any input on that?
