So after dropping my sister off as i was driving home i saw an early 2000's F150 de-badged and replaced with F250 decals. Complete with the V10 Triton under the side badges next to the door. I am 100% positive it was an F150 (as my bud has the exact same model...early 2000's extended cab).
I can't decide...is it cool to do this to a non superduty truck or not :dunno:
Hmmmm? On one hand I want to say no. If you want a F-250 then buy a F-250.
On the other hand I want to say yes. Maybe he really wants an F-250 but can't afford a new truck. Pretty much everybody in the world is jealous of Super Duty owners, so I guess I can see where he's coming from.
its true, from the body style 99-03 the did offer a F250 light duty and they also had a 7700 that had a seven lug axle, cant remember if that was the 250 also too, it may have been available in a F250 light duty..
My neighbor has the F250 7700 version. I'm pretty sure it has the 7-lugs. I did a double take when I saw it. I'd heard they made one, just hadn't see one.
I think thats killing our good name lol. a light duty? haha
But anyway theres this f150 that i always see on the highway, and its got superduty stickers, and chains hangin from the axles and its all chromed out, every walmart chrome you can find, hes got. its got like a 4inch lift with small tires on, and mini cattle horns on the front of his truck. but and its not the light duty i roll on him all the time.
i have 2 friends with F-150 7700's.. nice trucks its just a f150 with bigger brakes, stiffer springs, stiffened frame, and bigger front and rear end w.7 lugs.. the 7700 comes from the GVW on the truck...
:agree: The 7700 package was in the F150s. These F150s and the F250s setup like this, you could get the 4.6 or 5.4. I seen a light F250 with the 4.6 V8 with 3.75 gears. It was a 2wd though.
GM also done this in the late 90s. I have a 96 C2500 light duty. Vortec 5.0 with 3.42 gears. It looks just like a 1/2 ton. Only difference between it and a 1/2 ton are, 6 bolt wheels vs. 5 bolt, little larger brakes, and one extra leaf in the rear plus they are all just a little thicker. Is it a true 3/4 ton, no and really not sure why they offered them.
Kinda like Chevy making a 2500 and a 2500HD... I've seen the light F250 before... I had to stare at it for awhile- what gave it away was the 7 lugs- that's how I knew it wasn't an F150.
