I saw on here a while ago that there's a way to delete the footprint an SCT tuner may or may not leave from the factory computer. Is that true? I just recently took it off to ease my motor a bit (been running it since October), and was thinking that I'd take her in for a checkup while its off. If anyone can help me with the process please let me know.
Another thing, the warranty on an 06 is 100k miles on the engine alone right?
Reckon I should have had my parking sensors fixed before I went over 36k...whoops
There is no way to permanently delete the footprint but it is not something that the techs look for or know how to look for. DJ suggests you take your truck back to stock and drive it around for a few days before going to the dealership.
I've read posts of people who disconnect the battery but that will give a code to the tech that the battery was disconnected. Of course, you could say that you were having a problem and thought that disconnecting the battery might reset everything.
DJ also suggests that you ask to speak with the tech and set up a rapport in case you need help in the future. Test the waters and don't offer any information unless you are confident that it won't backfire.
I have an 06' ALSO..............
I believe it is Motor and Tranny for 100K
MOMBENZ gave EXCELLENT ADVICE
In addition if your motor is lookin Stock and you are only gonna have your parking sensors looked at (diagnosed) . I believe that that component (bumper sensors) is not part of your ECM. Maybe other readers could chime in on that particular subject.
I had a problem with my power door lock actuators and I asked the Teck at the dealer if the ODB-II port could identify the source of the short or faulty actuator if relavent. I was told that it was a stand alone system not controlled by the ECM. It is hard to tell what or how much things are controlled or even monitored by the ECM. Every year these vehicles get more and more complicated (read computerized). Good Luck
