Need advice, just bought a 95 PSD

Hi everyone, new here. I just picked up a 95' PSD , has a 8" lift kit, tires are 325 80R16, has about 220k miles on the odo.

I'm thinking about dropping the lift down to 2.5" or 3" tops, main reason is its hard to drive around town and hoping that the drop will help give it a smoother ride.

oh ya, it also has the death wobble, seller said could be the ball joints. I looked at the shocks in the front, bushings worn off, seems like shocks don't have much tension on them either. Can anyone comment bout my situations?

Thanks.

death wobble huh anyways could be steering stabilizers, ball joints, hub bearing.... had the problem with my truck and found the hub bearing to be bad replaced it then while my truck was on the lift i noticed my ball joints were bad after that my truck even with the big a$$ tires drives like a car, mind you car with 40 inch mudders

Is it a 250 or 350? 250 have a funky front end that tends to eat ball joints. Common problem.

If the shocks are shot, they're certainly not going to "help" anything, but they really won't cause any problems either except a harsh and crappy ride. (since the truck is held up on leaf springs)

Does the truck have a steering stabilizer?

More than likely its a hacked cheap lift as 99% of these do not lift them correctly..Crossover steering etc. That and worn out parts can make a very unstable truck.

Need to know what axle you have..guess its a D60 at that height. You can have a fantastic ride quality doing the lift correctly..RS kit and SD springs..I've helped hundreds do it right. If I can help PM me.

thanks everyone for all the input greatly appreciated, thx caryt for offering help, i may take u up on that once i can pm. i checked, it does have a steering stablizer, shocks are rancho. the sealed joints for the stabilizer seem worn, i have a test coming up early next month, after my test i will post some pics up.

also, i was mentioning i might drop the lift to 2.5-3" i seen a kit from toughcountry.com are those any good?

update on my death wobble issue, its been a few months and have learned quite a bit about my psd, for one I didn't know it but this truck has a d60 axle on it with kingpin so no ball joints, i guess the previous owner didn't know that either.

I even ordered the ball joints when i first got the truck then finally finding out that i don't even have ball joints, good thing napa let me return them w/o any problems.

anyway i found a fix over at pirate4x4 forum specifically dealing with the kingpin on the d60, what I did was got a hold of some washer 1/8" and slipped them in the upper kingpin on TOP of the preloading spring and guess what, no death wobble! Its still early i did several test drives in spots i know where my truck gets the DW and has not happened yet! great fix as the washers where under a buck each, some folks put in 1/4" thick ones but i thought i'd add to it if i needed it since the kingpin is easy to unbolt and slip the washer in.
