man this thing rocks so much. It's soooo deep, the turbo is loud as ****, and the whooshing when the truck is decelerating sounds hard core.

Turbo spool is MUCH quicker, it has lost NO bottom end and might have actually gained some. It seems as though when I do 3rd gear roll-thru's at stop signs, it doesnt lug nearly as much. In 6th gear at about 60mph, I pin it and it instantly starts gaining. No lag or anything else like before. Sounds sooooo good.

Love love love it!

I love it dude. Sounds sooo deep and powerful. I was surprised what stock 3.5" piping could sound like.

Ya just have a piece of pipe welded in the mufflers place. Sounds awesome :thumb:

ya... mine had alot of turbo noise until my turbo went out from the damn rubber air filter sensor gasket breaking and getting sucked into it. At the time I did not know I could have just replaced the wheel... so I put my 01 turbo I had here on it. It is bigger so less noise. Otherwise I dont see a difference in performance. I personally love mine straight piped, especially when towing. The person next to you dont but who cares... just turn the chip up and smoke them while you are at it if their window is down!!!!
Ya my turbo noise is wayyyy up but it also has a super deep big-rig exhaust bark also. Tuner is next though. Tuner, tint, rhino liner, undercoating, and some mossy oak gear

i thought my 3.5 inch exhaust sounded awesome then i put the 5 inch one on and the sound got 100x better. Its so deep and throaty and with the 6637 intake the turbo is extremely loud. I love it.

ahhhhh quit tempting me! I'd love to get a bigger exhaust, I just dont want to pay for one lol.

#9 ·
i know what you mean... i didnt want to either. But i did get mine at dead even cost so it didnt cost me too much.

Being as the mods I'm going to do wont require bigger than a stock diameter straight piped setup, I dont think I'm getting a bigger piece. BUT if I happen to find one cheap hehehe

I just got a 5" kit from Farm boys, went to go put it on and ran out of time after cutting the back part of my stock exhaust off. HOLY **** it's loud like this! Should be finishing my 5" kit today though.

#13 ·
Yup I thought the stock straight pipe was loud, then I went to a 5" sp then to a 6" stack. I can honestly say it's almost too loud

I love how my truck sounds now; it sounds like a big rig, but it's not obnoxious and it doesn't drone etc.. So I'll probably keep it like this. I daily drive it and I dont want to be racking my brains on long drives

#15 ·
Glad to see you got it on man. Did you buy a tb kit or stock straight?

#17 ·
lol truthfully, right now I just have about 6" of pipe cut off before the muffler. The clamp was pissing me off so I sawed it. But this coming paycheck I'm going to have some stock 3.5" piping welded up in there. It's hard finding anything over 3" in this town for some odd reason :dunno:

not a better sound in the world my friend..

..well, maybe a 6.0 with an '03 or hybrid turbo
I agree. The 6.0's sound really good, but the 7.3s sound more "diesely" to me.. the have more diesel growl. Whereas the 6.0 has a LOT of hiss when exhausted. Both sound amazing in their own ways.

oh also.. I noticed that I can def. hear my turbo surge now when I boost up a bit, in between gears. I dont feel it and the truck isn't slower (probably a bit quicker.. seems to boost quicker), but I can hear the surge. It KINDA sounds like when a big rig is jakebrake shifting his gears.. that kinda "brkk" in between.. sounds like somebody gasping for air real loud. Sounds kinda cool actually..

#19 ·
Is that when you shift or when you ar accelerating?

#20 ·
It's when I let off to shift that it makes that noise. Sounds like somebody breathing in thru a rebreather or something.

#21 ·
Thats probably not surge but turbo bark of some sorts. It souncs like ch ch ch right? Thats just cause your turbo is sucking in all this air through the intake and when you let off it doesnt need all the air it is sucking so it blows it back out the intake. If thats what it sounds like thats probably what it is. All normal

#22 ·
It ONLY does it when its boosting a good amount or if I shift relatively casually at like 2000rpms or so+. It's like "cha-shush" is being made in front of a fan. Hard to describe lol.

#23 ·
Probably turbo bark I think your ok

#24 ·
Ya.. probably? lol. It sounds cool as hell though.

#25 ·
Take a quick vid and send it to me

#26 ·
I dont think my crappy cellphone will pick it up :( lol

85 305s Hey I just went to Orielly Autoparts and ordered a 4inch diameter mandral bent pipe for over the rear axle, 10 foot piece of 4inch pipe, (1) 3.5 inch to 4 inch adapter, and a chrome tip for about $130 for everything. Then installed it with a friend and a welder. You will only need anywhere from 5 to 6 feet of the 10 foot piece of pipe. This depends on how much up cut out. Oh and you will not need to bend the pipe either. Now this will get rid of your muffler also. You can take some of the extra 4inch pipe and us it on your air intake system with the wix filter. I dont know yet but a friend gained almost 4 mpg just doing the exhaust.

damn 4mpg w/ the exhaust? I haven't filled up my tank yet since doing the exhaust so I'll know in the next few weeks (filing up tomorrow). But good idea on O'Reilly's! I wonder if they have any of those around here.. it would be worth giving it a shot.

Is it decent pipe or is it flimsy stuff?
