ummm, well, every time you turn the key to the instument, or start position, then the battery light should come on. But it should go off as soon as the vehicle is started.
How long does the battery light stay on after the truck is running?
My guess would be a bad connection somewhere. The dash light isn't receiving the signal that the vehicle is running.
No other issues though? 99 f250, in the wrong part of the forum, but no biggie. Question, since you have a 99, you have an OBD II port. Has your truck thrown any codes? (much easier for you to check than OBS trucks)
Interesting. Well, the light coming on, then going off, would indicate a loose connection somewhere. (like a wire moving around). Not sure where to look though.
i dont think lose wire due to when first start up the light comes on for adout 5 min or so.the same every time and some times comes on when driving what you thing about volt reg in alt.maybe thanks Bryan
Bryan, I think I saw you post in another thread where some other people were having a similar issue. I believe that they were having issues with some of the wires connecting to the alternator.
In all my experience with electronics and wireing. A sparatic signal, is usually caused by a loose/ inconsistant connection, or a part that's about ready to go toes up. (and I don't think there are too many "components" between the batteries and your dash indicator, and if any of them were going out, you would probably have other issues as well).
