I dropped my 05 F350 at the dealership at noon and they called me at noon the next day and said they just put motor back in and head gaskets were done. Is this possible, I've never had such a fast turnaround at a dealership. :icon_ford:
I know there were techs on here that could have a cab off in 4 hours. The thing that I dont get is how did they know what parts exactly they needed without digging into it? Mine was at the dealer for three weeks for headstuds, but my dealer only has one tech, and he's not fast.
i dont know about 1 day... i know of some techs that could do it but they dont because of all the hoops that have to be jumped thru for the warrenty approvals and such...
The service tech said they put their guys on one job until its done and they do it old school and remove the grill and front, and take motor out instead of taking cab off. They do have 2 fulltime diesel mechanics but I was still suprised. Did we actually find a Ford dealership with good service? The last one was horrible, truck came back after a week, not fixed and with beer caps and drywall in bed like they used it to haul stuff, and to top that dog hair in the cab-we didnt have a dog! After 3 similar visits, and no fix(this was in 04) got so mad at Ford, traded in on a Toyota! So here I am back with a 6.0 with 40k miles and new headgaskets, If my old Ford dealership would have treated me this good I would have never given up my 1st 6.0. We'll see, haven't got truck home to drive yet, p/u this afternoon.
seems awefully quick for a dealer. check out your engine bay and what not, look for disturbed dirt to see if they actually did the work. if so, sounds like a good dealer for service
OK, Spoke to service manager, cant pick truck up till tommorow, they havent done the testing to make sure everything is right, but truck is back together and should be able to p/u at lunch tommorow. Still, truck in on Mon @ noon and out by wed @ noon for heads, pretty good! Ford has the head gaskets as a tbs? so no warranty hassles they just do it.Wish they would have called sooner, would have had studs done while they were in there.
Very hard to find, especially in South Florida. Very pleased with the techs and the service dept, couldn't of been more helpful. Thanks for the input, this site is great, sometimes its hard to trust the dealerships.
proabably cant get that one by the dealer, because they are going to say, why fix it if its not broke?
ANd I would hope they could get em done in a day. good lord, we have a tech at the local dealer who really knows his chit, and he can have the cab off in about 45 mins.....
When I dropped my truck off a few years ago on a Tuesday (about lunch time) I picked it back up Thursday morning. They called me to tell me it was ready to go Wednesday late afternoon... and I know the tech that worked on mine. It was done right.
I wish I knew the tech that did mine did it right....
I know about a month after I found the ground cable connecting the cab to the frame was ripped in half. Its nothing major, but just something that small makes me worry about what else could have happened.
