Install of gauges and exhaust

OK guys need some help/advise here. Going home this weekend to put some new toys on the truck. Exhaust is pretty straight forward, but gauges have me a little worried (Never done them before). I have good mechanical skills and I am an electronics tech in the Navy, so shouldn't be that hard, but is there anything I need to watch out for? I am planning on drilling and tapping the drivers side exhaust manifold (cover bit in grease) Magnet with nail in hole for leftovers). I am also removing the AIH and putting my boost fitting there. I was also told to put the tranny temp on the drivers side above the pan. Also will be pulling turbo to do the EBPV delete. I guess what I am asking is advise and trouble to watch for. You guys are great and thanks for the help.:chicken:

Ok when you drill and tap your hole in your exhaust manifold, I suggest putting grease on the spot where your going to drill and tap the hole, also put grease on the drill bit, then on the tap as well. As for using a nail and magnet I think you would get better results if you use a magnetic retrieving tool. You can pick them up almost anywhere and they are cheap. For the tranny temp gauge sensor, there is a plug you remove from the drivers side of the tranny, You replace this plug with the tranny temp sending unit. Just simpily remove the plug and screw in the sending unit. When you run your wire make sure it is not going to get wrapped up by the driveshaft if you have a 4wheel drive truck. I zip tied my wire going to the gauge to the shifter cable. Ran the wire to the cab of the truck that way so I know it will not get wrapped up by the driveshaft or anything else. I have not had any problems with my temp gauge not working yet. Your boost gauge depending on the style, can be just a simple run of a small line to the gauge from where you decide to tap it into to pick up the reading. Some use a splitter of some sort and tie into the line that goes to the wastegate. I drilled and tapped mine into the y coming off the turbo that connects to the cac tubes.

Careful with your gauges, I was in a hurry and actually broke one of the bolts that the wires connect to on the back of my egt guage, it pushed right in the back of the guage and it wouldn't work properly. Luckily I got hooked up from 4wp with a new one. Most of the time you won't get every single shaving from the manifold either. It's not going to hurt at start up/idle to "blow" out what remains. The turbo won't be spinning fast enough for them to cause damage. Some guys will drop a duece in their drawers over that, but they just need to calm down.
