So a friend of mine has a 05 F350 6.0 and he was talking about how someone had told me that the 03 6.0s had a bigger turbo on it than the one he currently is running and asked me if there would be any performance advantages and if it would be worth it. And I really didnt know, Im more of a 7.3 guy so I have no idea what the difference between the 03 turbo and 05 one. Would it be worth it for him to track on down and put it on or just leave is current turbo on it?
i have tried an 06 turbo on my truck and imo the 03 is by far quicker spooling and just all around more responsive. could just have been in my mind but i like the 03 turbo better
I have to agree. The 03 turbo is not bigger, but it has 10 veins instead of the updated 15 veins in 04-07. That is why the 03 turbo sounds like a friggin jet. :icon_ford: But I do think it is much more responsive. Just my opinion.
03 had 10 vanes, 04 went to 13, then 05 went to 15. They added the additional veins to reduce the turbo noise as there were complaints from early 6.0 owners
Oh never mind...you're right...I could have sworn they had only nine...guess not...learn something new every day...
