I have an 05 Excursion with stock exhaust. Would it benefit me to have the muffler portion of the exhaust remove and replaced with a straight pipe. I have a stock engine.:dunno

yes, you will lower EGTs and your truck will sound great! Plus the oem muffler is heavy so you're dropping weight.

if you wanted to pass emissions then the simple way would be to unbolt the cat, knock out the catalytic part and hollow it out. Since your truck is an 05, all they will do is plug into your OBD2 port to see if you have a CEL or any issue there. And they MAY sniff the exhaust, however i believe on a no smoke tow tune or stock tune you will still pass the sniff test. Most newer trucks however they usually only plug into the OBD2 port and look to make sure the cat is still there...

our trucks do not have o2 sensors so you wont get a CEL from removing it, or hollowing it out.

a diesel truck with absolutely no emissions equipment will still produce less emissions than a gas engine with EGR AND CAT's. its sickening all the BS they're making manufacturers put on diesels for emission purposes... none of it is needed.
