The rear A/C could have a leak and the front work fine. Need to have dye put in the system and recharged to pinpoint the problem. Probably one of the lines that run to the rear causing the issue.
Not necessarily. I've seen front work and the rear not and all because of a leak. Take it and have the system evacuated, have dye added and then recharged. Run it for a while and take it back to see if the dye appears anywhere. I guess it is also possible that the blend door for the rear is not switching either which will keep the air from being cold. I just know that I have seen a lot of lines leak causing the problem.
This Issue is back again, I did remove a plastic bag from the air return vent in the rear at one point and the volume of air increased. Has anyone else had issues with there rear A/C?
Yes and 2 trips to Stealership hasn't cured it either. From my reading the next shop I will have them check the blend door for movement, lines for leaks, and mechanism that diverts the air flow either to the roof or floor because I get low airflow from the ceiling vents.
I had the same problem on my ex. It turned out to be the rear expansion valve. Not an expensive part about $40 if I remember. Not a real hard repair either.
The valve is located in the rear of the truck behind the kick panel. it is we're all of your rear AC lines connect. All you have to do is disconnect the lines reconnect them with the new valve and you're good to go. You will need to have your AC system evacuated before you disconnect the lines and have it recharged after you connect the lines. You will also need to add a
little AC oil before connecting the lines.
My problem was good heat/ac in the front, no heat in the rear. The actuator on plenum box on the rear unit was broke. It was 50 bucks I think. May want to look at that.
A/C goes from 60 cold to hot changing temp to 70 gets hot!
I have a 2002 Excursion limited and I am experiencing an A/C issue as it makes vacuum thumping on the passenger side when I turn on the A/C and it comes out hot and this happens only intermittently as the A/C is very cold so when I turn up the thermostat it goes from cold at 60 so when I turn it to 70 it gets very hot in front only! Sometimes I stop and turn the truck off and it starts up and works OK but when I touch the thermostat it gets real hot even at just 70 F. The rear A/C is OK
Can anyone help me locate what to replace
