Just wondering what the 18K mod was all about and what it consist of? Also im looking into perchasing an intake for my 99.5 PSD and was debating the S&B or the AFE stage two. Any suggestions would help alot. Thanks
5,10,18k just fools the truck into thinking it has low ICP, which bumps up the oil pressure to the injectors at all throttle positions except for WOT.
As for the filter question, now that you're a member please check out the tech files because it is LOADED with information and different views on which will be the best option depending upon your application.
For the price you can't beat the diy tymar. You can do the intake and exhaust for almost what you would pay for a AFE Stage 2. Go to the thread maintain is talking about he has a write up on that diy intake.
i didn't get my 18k (from dfuser) in my truck yet, but i have it here... i was told that i shouldn't see more HP out of it when used with my superchip, but i should more feal it off the line. i did try the raido shack 10k in the plug, but didn't like it.
with the ts chip i got in it when i set it on 75hp it has a really rough idle, kinda like it has a big cam in it (sounds really mean), and when i set it at 50hp it has a high idle to it. Also throttle respons isnt a problem with the B/B turbo cuz its spools super quick.
I have the Dfuser with a TS Custom burn. I didn't like the surge and quick release of the throttle activation. I have had it kill the engine. Full time works good. If the idle gets a little ruff you just turn the dial back till it smooths out. This isn't a drag or pull mod. It does make the daily driver a little snappier. Cranked up at a traffic light scares the rice rockets.
99-03 7.3L Fuel System
------------------------------------------
This link will give you an Idea of the different fuel system mods that can be done, I have the AFE Stage Two, and it is a good system, I've had no problems with it, but had I known about the DIY set up at the time, I would have gone Either that way or with the Sever duty AIS from Ford.
You can also do a search for the Hutch and the Harpoon mods in our search forum, and check them out as well.
Hey Cumminstech, you should take a few minutes and fill out your sig, usually when we are answering a question, if nothing is showing we assume the truck is stock and answer accordingly, and have to revise the answer to suit the changed parameters of the question. And don't forget to vote on the ROTM poll, were trying to break the record on total votes hahaha.
I don't think the HUTCH or HARPOON are Worth all the work. I built a air fuel separator with PVC 4" fittings with a pusher pump. All your trying to do is get clean pure fuel with out air. The only reason for the regulated return which is what the stock system is except it flows thru the heads to purge air. My system gets the air out before the fuel reaches the high pressure pump. With a good filter on the separator you can do away with the stock filter and split the line and run a high pressure pump to each head. I also did away with the return line for a test. After a month I could see no difference with or without a return line. Totally optional. Theres a few pics as I developed this in my garage. I plan to make it pretty by summer.
Ya, Ramsmokers got a good system going on there as well, give it a look. I would have linked it but was busy trying to stay awake hahaha.
Gord.
