So my tranny got hot on sat an flashed the OD light an I got 3 codes p1249 p1211 and p1783 took it back to camp an let it sit all night got up this morning an checked the fluid it smelt a little burnt but didnt look bad ended up driving it home about 200 miles no problem besides running hot the whole way home wasnt puking fluid or slipping at all shifted fine an ran good all the way...
Any insight on what I should do now? bigger cooler? clogged filter? change the fluid?
you realy nead to find the problem out on that befor you end up paying for a hole build. i could be a cloged cooler or even you tc taken a dump i will look up the codes and get back to you on this.
they are all custom tunes now... an also I forgot to add we did stop at a quarter car wash an hosed out the cooler an it dropped about 40 degrees but started to climbe back up shortly after
they are a local shop he told me where the tunes came from but cant remember right off hand but the truck has 146k on it but only 20k or so on the trans
If the thing started getting hot overnight it sounds like a problem more the the cool, many being pluged but not being too small. Seen on of these trucks like a moth ago same problem and the kept driveing and fried the tranny when the only problem if first place was the tc.
Well I caAlled the tranny guy today he said he is almost sure it isnt the TC due to the codes it threw an the way it still runs good but did tell me to replace the check valve on the back of the tranny I tried calling the dealer toget a price but they dont know what that part is that im talking of can anyone help out?
I would drop the pan and change your fluid and transmission filter. Too hot of temps could break down the oil and cause it not to dissipate heat as well.
pull the pan and pull the valve body's and check that all of your valves are moving freely, if they are sticky and one completely sticks then you will end up with one burnt transmision. best to check now to prevent a whole trans. rebuild. while you are in there it wouldnt hurt to throw in a shift kit.
I dont knew if i would trust that tranny shop that you are working with that told you its not the tc. but if you call a good tranny shop they will tell you that it could very well be the tc. you should try to find a good tranny shop to test it for you.
