Before I bought this powerstroke, I had a Duramax. Evryone was using a 2 micron cat filter that was installed in the fuel line on the frame rail. By doing this you never had to change out the expensive filter under the hood.. The cat filter is like $18.00 .. I have been searching this site trying to find anything like this for the 2006 powerstroke but have come up empty handed..

The 6.0L trucks already have two fuel filters (one is on the frame rail and the other is in the engine compartment). These filters come as a set.

Hey, thanks to a suggestion from another member on here, I use International (Navistar) oil and fuel filters in my 06 6.0 ltr.

I live in Canada, so I'm not sure what you guys south of the border pay.
Ford sell the OEM oil filter for approx. $41.00 and the two OEM fuel filters for approx. $98.00 here!!!!

I now use the International fuel filter kit (both filters), part number 1847170C92, they charge $40.51 for it!

I use the International oil filter, part number 1840752C91, they charge $22.09 for it!

Basically half the cost of going to Ford.

What's nice when using these filters, is that you are really using OEM (Navistar) parts. Just check your phone book and call an International dealer to compare prices in your area.

One last comment on the oil filter. The Internatonal truck dealership I go to service other makes of trucks. The parts manager said I can save even more money on the oil filter. He said they use the Fleetguard (Cummins) oil filter in the 6.0 Int/Ford motor when the service these motors as it is the same fitment.

Fleetguard part number, LF16166, they cost $14.65 here!!! I'm going to pickup, compare and perhaps use one of these next oil change.
