No, this isn't a "Banks Bashing" thread, it's actually quite the oposite. Most people on the .Org automatically start bashing Banks whenever a question is brought up or even if someone breaths the name "Banks" & the sad part is, I'll bet most of these people have NEVER used ANY Banks' product of any kind. They just go by whatever the next person says & before you know it, you've got a "buddy club" of bashers who have no idea of what they're talking about. I will admit, my Tony Wildman chip far surpasses whatever the Big Hoss module wishes it could do, but when it came to the hard parts I never had a problem, & Banks' techline had always helped me with any problem I had.

Yes; Banks for the most part is on the arrogant & conceited side as far as comparing his products to others.
Yes; Banks parts are on the expensive side. & Yes; those of us who have Banks equipment on our trucks would've really liked the luxury of logging on to the .Org & just thumbing down to the Banks threads to access their site easier. WHO CARES WHAT BANKS SAYS OR DOES ANYMORE? MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT BANKS EITHER GET BASHED & ARE TOLD TO GET THIS OR THAT INSTEAD OR ARE TOO AFRAID TO ASK-----PERIOD!!!

Most people who use Banks parts have heard every insult you could possibly imagine about Banks. Just think; every member who bashes Banks & tells them to get this or that instead, have you ever thought that everyone's truck is going to be the exact same??? Then you might as well call this a Mustang forum, because everytime you open a Mustang mag, they're almost ALL modified with the same crap: Paxton/Vortech supercharger, MSD, Flowmaster/Dynomax/BBK, AutoMeter, etc.etc. Pretty please.......everyone move on with the Banks bashing & get on with life. For all of us that had a question or just wanted to see about Banks parts, thanks for chasing Banks & JBarker away.

In no way, shape, or form am I saying I'm 100% Pro-Banks, but that's what I started off with & have no money to go further & I'm not going to start over. Even though I've got Banks parts on my truck, it still rolls coal, sounds like any other mean diesel with modified exhaust, & runs with some of the best of them. Now I have to go to the Banks site if I have any questions or need help instead of being able to contact JBarker for a quick response & get back to the .Org before anyone knows I'm gone.

That's pretty much it..........I feel better now.

& before this does turn into yet another Banks bashing free-for-all: don't even bother.....Like I said; I've heard EVERYTHING you could possibly think of about Banks. It doesn't even phase me. I already know what you're going to say before you say it, so don't bother blowing any steam this way......I could care less. I'm tired of the Banks/Edge/BullyDog shooting galleries. Good day!:thumb:

I had not noticed that they left but you are right about people following along whether they have experience or not.

#15 ·
Yes usually anually

Banks hard parts are quality stuff. Noone ever bashed that. However what was bashed were their tuners

#6 ·
well now, i run their intercooler and piping along with their intake. and by the way their boots for this system NEVER come off. can't even hardly install them they fit so good.

#7 ·
I don't think I ever bashed banks stuff. I most likely have recommended something else that either is equal to or better. The stuff I recommend is also priced a lot more friendly too.

#9 ·
I will be a man and admit to bashing stuff I havent tried (not Banks). I will work on that!

#10 ·
I remember in the old IDI days, banks was the shiznit, and if you had banks stickers on your truck you were the man. I put a banks kit on my 93 shortly before i sold it, and couldn't complain one bit about it. But i will say that my dislike of Banks these days comes from the price, and alot of it is from actual banks owners, most of them think their poo doesn't stink, and think they are the bomb because they have a tuner and large stickers on their trucks. So, is it right for us to bash banks? yes and no. I know the bashing i do is mostly in jest.....referring to the whole sticker situation.....my usual response is to say banks is not bad, but alot of people have found just as good if not better stuff for a better price elsewhere.

I have lots of Banks stuff on my truck and they fit and work perfect.. I have always said you get what you pay for so I dont mind paying a little extra for something. It's the same as buying a king ranch suerduty insted of a xl model, they both do the same thing. I have installed other brands and they didn't fit right and it was a pain, I have never had that problem with a Banks products. I'm not saying it's the best but it ain't the worst that's for sure.

If your an older person, towing a 5th wheel camper. Then I would recommend Banks for you. But most of us want a lot more then what banks offers.

Banks is great for the person wanting some more power, better fuel mileage, and to be safe. Meaning banks has a lot of fail safe into there products from what I have read and experinced. Which is great for someone that wants a bolt on upgrade.

I'm not trying to start a fight, bigcountry, I swear to you. But look @ the 1st statement you posted: If you're an older person towing a 5th wheel camper & most of us want a lot more power than what Banks offers? That's kinda on the stereotypical side of what people say about Banks, wouldn't you say? In all due respect, bud, these are the things that light the fuse. Some people of any age use Banks just to bang around town or tow a 5th wheel camper, not just older people. You are right that Banks some power, MPGs, & to be safe, but is also for people of any age who like clean technology & just want a little bang. I realized I wanted big power too & am not really into clean tech, so I looked elsewhere, but if it wasn't for Banks, I wouldn't have caught the bug, you know?

I am buying a '97 (Gas) that has all the Banks stuff on it. I have driven this truck for a long time and it does fine other then the fuel economy!

WOW! All I can say is................wow! I'm very surprised @ all the mature answers everone posted. I was hoping this wouldn't be another .Org Fightclub Thread & was actually expecting some serious verbal assault from other members & thankfully, everyone who posted so far proved me wrong:thumb:. It's good to see we can discuss stuff like this without it becoming a p1ssing contest. I'm also glad there are some people who agree with me on the whole Banks bashing thing. I do agree that Banks is expensive compared to his competitors who use the same material to make their products, but some of us use Banks & don't want to replace it with something else because we either can't afford it, or are made fun of by an ill-informed member who possibly bought all of his/her parts because everyone else told him/her to & wouldn't know the difference anyway. Some of us made our choice of buying Banks products from either wanting certain Banks parts, wanted a modest power gain, or just didn't know better. Whatever the reason, we still need support & help on what our rigs are modified with. I've noticed some people who've posted questions on Banks products either get bashed or have 0 replies & I don't think that's fair @ all. The same goes for anyone who has an Edge or BullyDog question as well. It's all about trial & error. Give these people advice----not an azz chewing, you know?

#19 ·
These are probably people who've been bashed in the past for having Banks parts on their rigs & either put that up to hide that they're still using Banks, or actually spent even more money:tard: to get rid of the Banks stuff because they were rammed on a thread.

#30 ·
thank you granny.

#21 ·
Banks is now working with the EPA and government to get rid of all the other aftermarket companies:doh: Banks stuff will be the only aftermarket equip that will pass the CA. smog test:hehe:

I have people asking for Banks products all the time and I have no problem selling them... they are a good product, with very good quality.... I have asked people before what they were trying to do and switched them to other products before but that was because the Banks didnt suit their needs.... but all in all I am a banks supporter... I actually went to them for some parts a few days ago, but ended up going elsewhere instead....

MIGHT I ADD I HATE THE ATS BASHING TOO.... they had some issues 4 years ago, but have since straightened that out and their new stuff is incredible... I wont run another brand of build tranny in my rig and their other parts are great too....

We need to stop the product bashing period... if someone has a question just answer it and let the vendors worry about switching them....

Great thread here... glad to see some people have the kahones to step up

This is the post I've been waiting for. This is basically my entire rant in a nutshell. Thanks, Dunes.:thumb:
I don't bash products, I just bash the bashers.................................
& man it's some funny bashing, Mike! If it wasn't for you, a lot of threads would be pretty boring!:hehe::hehe::thumb:

i never bashed banks neither. if i could afford there parts, i would probably buy there intake elbow, technicooler, etc.... but never there chips/tuners. its sct all the way for tuners.

As stated earlier, Banks and Edge were my intro into the world of Diesel Performance. First thing i ever bought from Banks was a Turbo kit for my 88 7.3 back in the early to mid 90's. Since then ive ran the Six gun, waste gate actuator, OBS IC kits etc... and the Edge Evo 1, evo 2, Juice/attitude. Have i Bashed these brands and products? Yes i have but only the ones i have had personal experience and dissatisfaction with. Ive ran these Brands on the IDI 7.3 and the 7.3, 6.0 strokers as well.
I havent had any major problems with either brands except for tuning or lack there of for the transmission. Point being through EXPERIENCE with the products i have the Right to voice my opinion on the Parts. There is a difference between bashing and suggesting an alternative option to people based on there needs or uses for the vehicle in question.
The problem i see more so as mentioned earlier are the post from people who have no experience with the manufacturer at hand. This "bashing" is just not involved with banks, i see it in many posts. People that have no clue as to what could be causing a problem the OP is asking about, which leads to confusion especially to people whom are not familiar with diesel engines etc... The concept is easy, IF YOU DONT KNOW DONT POST! I am by no means saying that its unacceptable to post an idea or probable cause relating to any said problem, but these reply's should be based on experience, Not just some Jo Blow with no idea.

Im done venting about this now, I've just seen too many OP's get confused by improper information being posted. Sorry for the long post:thumb:

Meh.

You people better not get too cuddly with this "woe is banks" crap. More than one of us have been screwed over by them. So far, we've bit our "collective" tongue.

BUT... I do agree, there is a bunch of people that DO NOT or HAVE NEVER owned banks products that jumped all over them.

Dirk hit the nail on the head here.

I've been taken by Banks in almost every way also! Customer service sux! My disappointment with them to say the least is what lead me to this site so i cant have too much hate, but they could at least include a complimentary bottle of lube with their deals to ease the pain of gettin the shaft!:thumb::hehe:

#47 ·
This is exactly what I'm talkin' about. I knew it was only a matter of time.

I just have to say that I applaud the man upness that some have shown here! It is a SHAME and DISGRACE that any sponsor of this forum should be driven away! Some people are so vain that they have to tear someone else down to build themselves up!

#43 ·
driven away? I wouldn't say that.

They have chosen to leave. With any sponsored forum, "sponsors" come and go. While some go out of business, some just "take their ball and go home". I don't know the story of why banks left. Maybe they are leaving other forums as well? I don't know.

#44 ·
Banks left basically because of their 6.4 stuff. They couldnt handle the fact that most of us were defending Spartan and SCT
