The Good the Bad the ugly, I would like to hear what you guys think between the two and is it worth getting an older 7.3, or getting a newer 6.0? Ive been looking and im being told the 7.3 is where to be.
Im also going to have a 6" or 8" lift with 37's, if that changes anything
It depends on what your planning to do, you can make more power from the 6.0 personally I like the dependability of the 7.3 :dunno: But then on the other hand the 04 and on were pretty good to.
7.3......but i am alittle biased. 7.3's last forever if you take care of them, and 6.0's make more power, but that power can come at a hefty price if you arent careful......
I just keep hearing from people that the 6.0's are costly, and trying to find a clean 7.3 with not too many miles, but its a little tuff. So is the 6.0 not a bad choice, or should I keep looking for that 7.3
I will agree with this. My Uncle had a 6.0 that he had nothing but problems with. He took it to a "mechanic" who told him to change the spark plugs ( I know...) and after hours of trying to follow his advice, he called us, and asked us where the spark plugs on his truck were. :tard:
With the right preventive maintenance, a 6.0 should last a good long while as well. I still like the 7.3's better, I'm not really sure why though.
The 7.3 makes less power, it louder, and has worse fuel economy than the 6.0... the 7.3 does have a few issues but they are easily fixed and for the most part it is very reliable.... the 6.0 get better fuel economy, is quieter, makes a lot more power, can be modded to make awesome power easily, has a stronger transmission, but has EGR and Head Gasket issues...
Personally I love the 6.0 if you do the right mods to it.... but it will also depend on your budget too
nice truck, but loose that hidden winch in the front... those thing make the truck look like they have a jay leno chin... doesnt flow with the truck at all... plus if you get in an accident, your frame is F**KED... the mounts bend and pull the frame horns together and the front will never line up properly again
The owner inflicted problems you get with a 6.0 you'll also get with a 7.3 but the 7.3 is a stronger engine. Owner inflicted problems are basicly poor maintance. If you don't change the oil often you'll run into injector problems on the 6.0 and 7.3. Running crappy fuel will give you problems. But here's were the difference between owner inflicted problems and weak parts seperate. Blowing HG's on a 6.0 is not so much owner inflicted its just because the engine has a poor design for keeping the heads on. If you are pushing a stock 6.0 to it's limits its probably gonna blow the HG's and EGR cooler as were you push a stock 7.3 to it's limits its going to hold up fine because the 7.3 is built well. I drive both a 6.0 and 7.3 and have had issues with the 6.0. There is no excuse to fix/upgrade factory issues such as HG's when the engine should be built right in the first place.
Love my 6.0, have I had problems you bet. 2 bad egr valves in the first two years I owned it, changed fuel after second egr not a problem since. Popped the hg's before I found out this sight had it studded and hear we go. My only problem now is it's failure to start at -20 without being plugged in. And thats an improvement over the 5.9 I had -0 and that wouldnt go. I'm waiting for the egr cooler to go and then delete it. Yes I would buy a 6.000000yeah again.:scuffy:senile:
My 6.0 hasn't let me down yet! Hopefully it doesn't now that I said that
