I just purchased a brand new 08 F250 Fx4 nicely equipped with 100 miles on it. Question is am I ok on the job number? The truck manufacture date is November 2007. What job number would that be? Dealer says it is current on all updates that have come out. Anything I should be watching for? This deal seemed good to me but the numbers were MSRP of $53,235. I bought it for $26,900 plus my trade in. Trade is a real good 01 CC with 147 K miles. IE the truck in my sig.

Finishing up the paperwork before I pick up the new truck and the dealer said the engine had warranty on it to 100 K miles. I have seen that subject on here before. Is the 6.4 warranted to 100K?

Yes 100k no deductible. Be sure to read the diesel handbook, the owners manual and the warranty manual. I have had two issues where I was getting charged for not knowing any better and had to educate the service advisor and manager. Things changed in 08 and they don't seem to know a lot about it. Good thing is you came to the rigt place to find out everything you need to know.

The drive train components carry a 60k warranty and the exhaust system mostly has a 100k warranty. The warranty manual explains the finer details. There have been issues covered by TSB, recall, or campaign that may not be covered after the 36k warranty. The radiator is one problem that includes a modification to the surge tank hose routing which was covered by TSB / recall that would not be covered after 36k.

Your truck may have a bad charge air cooler installed from the factory. If it cuts out momentarily upon heavy acceleration after driving a while in very high humidity it is probably bad. The part is covered under both 100k warranties.

Look at the surge tank and see if the hose connection above the coolant fill line is plugged off. It it's not you need the venturi T update.

If your console does not ever say cleaning exhaust then you also need the updated programming.

Thanks. This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I will be driving it 800 miles in heat and humidity on Wednesday. That should shake out a few answers.

Another thing about programming.

The latest update has cleaning exhaust displayed continuously while the regeneration is active unless you reset it. If yours says cleaning exhaust only momentarily then it has the older programming.

It is current. Had to drive it home 800 miles today. Had about 300 miles on it when I got it. It went to cleaning exaust about 10 minutes into my drive. Did it 4 times total. Truck has 1100 miles on it and it has cleaned its exaust 4times. It did get 14.5 miles per gallon hand calcuated so that was better than I thought it would do.

They almost all get better mileage after some breakin time and you find the sweet spot. Sometimes a couple of miles per hour makes a lot of difference in fuel economy. The tire pressure is more set toward handling. More air will usually result in better mpg. However it can make the truck dangerous to handle on some roads so you have to experiment with it.
