Moving to home.. need help with Emissions/inspection requirements
Guys,
I'm a military guy getting out looking to move back to Chelmsford/lowell or Salem. Need help with 2 questions 1.) whats the inspection like on diesels? I have a straight piped 6.0L with EGR delete and SCT tuner to drop the CEL out. 2.) anyone recommend a inspection station i can go to either PM me or give me a buzz... maybe 1 that the inspector turns a blind eye about the exhaust? lol |

Depends on whether or not your truck is over 10k GVW or not, technically if your truck is over 10k it is a commercial vehicle in the eyes of the Commonwealth and will need commercial tags, insurance and inspection (all of which are more expensive than the private use counter parts). I believe you can get a waiver if you apply for one through Mass DOT but I am 9900 GVW so I am not sure.
For my truck, they check the brakes, ball joints, head lights, few honks of the horn and I am done. Pretty simple, I had a 5" exhaust on my Cummins with my edge in plain view...no one said anything. |

You can check the RMV website, I did. My 2003 6.0 is "grandfathered" After 2007 you need to pass emissions. Good luck
