6.0 tranny sounds 2003

just got a new engine put in and now when i am driving i can hear a sound, similar to a sound that the power steering pump would make when it is low on fluid, coming from the tranny. I lose power, it shifts hard into reverse, and when I shut it off, Something still spins inside the tranny and sounds like it may be metal on metal rubbing/ grinding. any ideas?
