Since I'm replacing the grill...
Went ahead and did the ZooDad mod.
Seriously FORD, WTF... Why put an air intake right behind a blocked area of the support ![]() I Think I need to open it up just a bit more - but already see the EX getting better mileage, normal driving to work and it's picked up about a 1/2 MPG so far. But can definitely see I'll have to look into CAI updates next or getting a sleeve to go over my Airaid filter... darn thing was covered in bugs after 4 days.

Try a mesh screen riveted over the hole.

I thought about that as well.
I have some 'screen door' type mesh. I'm going to run with out it for now just to see a before and after. Another strange but true option that someone suggested to me as to use some panty-hose over the airfilter...

Wow,
picked up 1.5mpg at highway speeds (doing 70/75mph) from South Denver to Longmont. Actually had it up to 18.8 at one point before getting off the interstate! And this is with no tuning done yet!
