Here are some pictures from my recent egr delete from river city Diesel!
Before i started

Turbo apart, surprisingly there was not very much soot build up inside!!
none of the vanes were stuck either!

So i decided to clean it anyway.
Little scotch bright on a air grinder and its cleaner then it was!




New up pipe installed


egr cooler removed, lets just say that was kinda a B**** to get out!


all the pictures i took. Whole job took me about 6-7 hours by my self Truck deffiently runs cooler! the EOT and the ECT stayed with in perfect 5* of each other +/- 1* I was cruising up I70 Mount Vernon canyon @ 75, outside temp read 92*, EOT never went over 210 with ECT being 205. Got to the top and by the time i reached the light at el rancho(evergreen exit) the oil was down to 201 and the coolant was 195!!
EGT's never got over 800 also!!
Truck definitely does have a little better spool up on it and a little more mid range kick to it!

As Nick said, I would love to do that myself as well, but as you know already, I am concerned about passing emission testing. I know I could always play dumb IF they say anything.

hey i know this is an old thread but wanted to update on emissions... I did the Sinister EGR delete on my 6.0 and was also worried about emmisions. Decided to try it and passed with very low numbers. I set my edge to show no codes at startup and put a dummy EGR in place of the block off plate ( i dont even think they looked tho)... anybody else get same results? not sure if i can list the place i went here so PM me for the info...

Good to know, thanks for sharing Brian. I took my truck in recently for inspection, and they never even popped the hood.

By the way, why do you still run that Edge?

On eBay you can get a spool that is installed in place of the EGR valve. I used it until I made my own EGR delete to get rid of the cooler.

ha ha yea Jeff still running the EDGE. Im definately interested in giving the SCT a try though... does it have a setting to remove check engine codes? Im getting codes for EGR unplugged and also FICM over voltage (swamps 58v)... Its nice to not see the engine light on for mods that we have done...

Your tune maker can do something about those codes, using an SCT . Just have to let him/her know what mods you have, and that you're getting the CEL. You an leave the EGR valve plugged in with the SCT, because most tuners will command it off anyway

Nick, what did you do as far as head work? ARP studs? a custom medium performance tune would be good for my driving needs... The most i ever haul is a dirtbike. haha Until i get head studs Im pretty nervous getting too crazy with the power... without the edge id have to get some guages.. EGT, VOLTAGE, BOOST, n i also like to see a digital readout of engine and trans temp...
