[quote=SoCalGlide;1248501Some communities have adopted is that is you get caught street racing, they can take your car from you and crush it. I think even being AT a street race qualifies. We've had way too many kids dieing, and even innocent bystanders getting run over when somebody loses control.[/QUOTE]

that is what i would be worried about. you know you will be saying "told you so" or "no i can't give you a ride to work in the morning" when his truck is taken.

i know cali does the quote

These trucks are too big to be screwing around with on the streets. There was an accident in my town last week where a guy was driving his un-modified 2500 cummins on a city street too fast. That is, 60 in a 35 zone. He made a lane change to the right and smashed a Ford Escape. Killed all the occupants in the escape, the Ram looked untouched for the most part. Now a new high school graduate has killed 3 people because of speeding. He may get jail time for this. I really hope he does.

And this was *not* a street race. It was an accident, and it happened at 60mph. Imagine one of these things losing control and hitting god knows what at 100mph or more. We all know what these trucks are capable of. I think that those of you who are endorsing street racing really ought to take a good look at yourselves, and see what it is that you are trying to prove. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how fast your vehicle is.

I agree that it is very dangerous and dumb to street race, I am no angel as I have done more than fair share of runs. However, when we did our runs, we tried to be as 'intelligently stupid' as we could. No traffic, late at night, three cars went out, no bystanders, etc. That is because it is almost two hours to the nearest drag strip here. The only thing you can do is take the high road and hope no one gets hurt. I don't street race anymore, (the VERY occasional stop light duel I will do if there isn't traffic) but I don;t sit around in the parking lot hanging out all night waiting on somebody to jump on my ride like I used to when I had my Mustang.... hoping for the best

Here's my .02. I have street raced, and i will again. Is it the right thing to do, no. Thing is there is no tracks within 2 hours of me. Some have mentioned the size and weight of our trucks. Who cares, if someone wrecks at 100 MPH, be it in an f-250 or a civic, someone is probably gonna die. With the bystanders thing, the way the races are set up in toledo, its out of town, and everyone hangs out at the starting line, with just a few people at the finish. Noone in between. With that setup its pretty hard to hit anyone, so if you do somehow manage to crash, you'll only hurt yourself, which may be a good thing if you are so stupid you can't drive in a straight line for 1320 feet.

I don't see how this gives us much of a bad name. What gives us a bad name/image is the smoke. Everyone races no matter what kind of car they have. Hell, i raced my old grocery gitter crown vic before. Does that make crown vic drivers look bad?

The damage that our vehicles can do to someone was shown to me last Thursday. A 24 yr old female in my apartment complex decided to do 50mph through our parking lot when it was wet. her 2900lbs jetta impacted my PARKED F-250 on the front passenger side and stopped. She hit at 50 (no skid mark, nothing) and stopped inside of 5 feet. That's as far as she could push my rig. She broke both of her legs, mangled her face in the Air Bag (they don't work as intended without your seatbelt) and just mashed her all up. I can only imagine if my vehicle had been the one moving. Oh and her Jetta? Barely recognizable.

Street racing is not fun at all. I raced twice at those little ricer meets and I will never do it again. People will pull out in front of you in their little crx and I can only imagine what our truck can do to those cars. Its fine if your on a back country road with no traffic and a couple of your friends. But after seeing an integra going about 100+mph almost go head on with a cop I will never go back down to any races like that. Also when I see more hand guns in 30 minutes then I have ever seen in my life I don't even bother going.
