Guys... please be sure to understand... I'm just as guilty as anyone.. I've fallen into the trap of playing this game on the public roads.

Considering the things that happened at the recent TS Performance Event, along with the threats that have been made to stop renting the facilities to Scheid Diesel if the on the street antics don't stop, I've made a concious effort to stop myself from participating in these activities.

Black smoke is an instant giveaway that a truck is a diesel. Not all of the public is stupid, and we don't need any more negative stuff than we have to have right now. I know that one truck, once in a while won't fix the problem, but it has to start somewhere.

I don't know if you have ever shifted with a dual disc clutch, but it isn't the fastest process.

↑ That's what I was thinking. OP, you have an automatic right? Out running a handshaker with an auto is like comparing apples to hammers (All other things being equal of course).

Street Racing = Bad

P.S. Pot, this is kettle come in, over.

The behavior you are describing is no different (other than the scale) than some of the behavior that is threatening our diesel events around the country.

I don't want to be a buzz kill here, but what you just described could easily land you in jail, or at the very least get your at least 3 driving awards from a law enforcement officer. Unsafe start, or exhibition of power for one, participation in a speed contest for two, and excessive speed for the third. The last two would be very serious offenses.

Guys, I know how easy it is to get into these situations. I also know how much fun they can be. We have to be careful about how we act, however, due to the fact that affects the entire diesel community.

Think about it this way. When you see some guy, wearing a multi-colored leather riding coat, on a crotch rocket, splitting traffic, doing wheelies, etc, do you condemn just him, or do you think "there goes another one of those idiots street bike jerks"??
I have to agree completely a short time ago I was the guy trying to race every cummins or duramax on the street, and then I came across a 22 yr man that is burned from head to toe riding in mustang with his dad street racing hit another car at 120MPH and killed his dad, he was 9yrs old at the time. now think about wat kind of damage our trucks can cause at those speeds, not mention spend half your life behind bars bc they are crackin down on street racing.
