Got killed by Texas DPS...

I didnt really get killed but i did get pulled on my way to school this morning. I honestly did not know what i was getting pulled for and i was a little supprised because when the officer asked for my liscens he didnt ask for my insurance card which they usually make a big fuss about. Also the officer said he was officer (cant remember his name) and that he was from the Texas Department of Liscens and Weight. I was like WTF? Anyways the reason that he pulled me over was because I did not know this but in texas you have to have mud flaps on all duallys (which is understandable dont get me wrong) and your rear tires are not to stick out past the outside of your fenders on either side.

I understand that these are not completely bogus laws and i even agree with them for the most part but how in the heck did i pass inspection like this a month ago and not even have a word said to me?

Yup, those are real laws. My dad didnt pass inspection cause he was missing one of his mudflaps. It had completely broke off underneath the flatbed so i fabbed one up and voala! It passed.

It just depends where you get inspection done. some places only get in the car drive it around in the parking lot, honk the horn and make sure the lights work. And since they have some newb usually doing it, they dont enforce certain things simply becuase they dont know. Some places know what you need to fix and still pass you.

I have been stopped at least a half a dozen times for no mud flaps in texas.
In oklahoma it isnt a requirement to have the mud flaps.

Yep. Years ago when I did inspections... I nailed people for it all the time.

So it's ok to have wide singles sticking out but no duallies??? That's another retarded law. Kinda like you have to have windshield wipers but you don't have to have a windshield...

I beleive they can ticket you if your tires stick out so many inches past the fender. Another one of those not so inforced laws. Similar to walking through a cow pasture with a pair of pliers. If you dont own or work on that pasture that could be considered cattle rustlin!!

well now i know. Today after i go to the doc i plan on running by the truck stop here in town and getting a set with trucker girls on them. They wil look better when i get my 22" Classics from American Force tho.
