I got out of work last night and was chattin with my buddy while letting our trucks warm up. It was like -20 out. I was parked next to this big Dodge, older guy that's been around the block. It's a 90's dually with I believe a 12 Valve in it, the 5.9L. I got my truck started fine, it had been running about a half hour and it was just getting to temp. That guy got out later than I and came up to my window and so I rolled it down. He asked if I had any trouble starting mine, and I said nope, just gave it a minute with the glowplugs and good batteries! He goes "Yeah I've never had a problem with mine starting... aint never plugged it in either.... Well you have a good night!" I roll my window up and look at my buddy and said "I think he was bout to talk smack about my Ford..." "Hm I think so" he said."
Now here's the kill.
They guy gets into his truck waits a minute, cranks and cranks and gets it running. Me n' my buddy are talkin and I hear the Cummins start up... again... it stalled! So he started it up again with a confused look on his face and my first thought was Gel, cause a guy at school let HIS Cummins gel up too just that morning. He got the truck started again and a minute later it stalled... again. Now I hear it cranking and cranking and cranking and cranking. He then shuts his lights off to save juice and keeps cranking it for like 45 seconds straight and FINALLY it starts.
"Never had a problem starting it at all"
I looked at my buddy and said "See what happens when you talk! Good ole Murphy!"
I got out and asked the guy if he had any additive in it and of course he didn't, so I suggested some of the white bottle. Poor guy, he blamed Kroger for bad fuel...mhmm.
