i hate to say it but the d-max isn't terrible(if i ever leave ford thats what i'd get) but with the mods he has i can see why he thinks the d-max is bad he's comparing a truck that with a chip is making possibly 350ish to a obs that with an evo is maybe making 200-225hp if that i say just put some injectors in it and roll on a d-max

im kinda sick at the way you guys turn on one of your own...if a man makes a decision encourage him don't degrade him,you guys remind me of a pack of wolfs as soon as one gets wounded you guys finish him off..
now for the comparison between the Fords 7.3L and the Duramax,we have 2 OBS PSD's one with 400,000+miles and the other with 150,000 miles and both ofem need plugged in if you ever want to start them under 30* and our Duramax's will fire up everytime and never been plugged in..now our Duramaxs(3 ofem)range from 112,000-140,000 miles and never had any problems with them except for stuff caused by a guy learning how to tune with EFILive(i had to learn somehow)but even then nuthin serious, water pump gasket and a tranny upgrade since the stock Allison hates 500RWHP.
the 7.3L will get you there everytime but like my bro says even if they wanted to quit they ain't got enough power to blow up.
when it comes down to it put the DIESEL in your driveway that you want there.

PS,if you want lots of HP with little work the Duramax will smoke the PSD everytime thanks to the CR Injection System, and if you get a Duramax join us over at the DuramaxForum.com we can help you with the modds.

We are not beating on him. We just want to know if he has any other comparibles. If you drive a lightly modded 96 and ride in somthing newer and more powerfull yes you are gonna want it. But you cant make the statment he did on one ride. You need to do some research and pick what is best for you. I am willing to bet he can mod his truck pretty heavaly over time and not touch the exspence of a new truck with phat payments.

take your average duramax... Sleeve the tie rods for a few hundred bucks, spend $5000 on the allison, throw in a lift pump and a couple other minor bolt ons, hit it with EFI live and have a 500+ HP monster.

In perspective, I have about 4-5 grand in upgrades to my truck as it sits. Another $5000 for the turbo and injectors I want will put me at a reliable 500 RWHP. That's close to 10 grand for 500hp and still running through a stock tranny that won't hold forever at that level...

All that being said, I still love my ford, but I can't fault a guy for going with a duramax or a CR cummins. The power is just too easy compared to what we have to deal with. Good luck to the OP, whatever you choose.
