I'd definitely wait to race him, because the one thing D-max's are good for is kicking the crap out of everyone else. They always have the better track times, and are always faster. However if he wants to take you on going through a 1/4 mile MUD track, you might have a chance. I'd be willing to bet that if he has one of those $h!ty G80 lockers he'll demolish his rear end, when he goes over 3K rpms in mud, the only way I know that is because I've done it before, 6 months before I got my F250. D-maxs are great on the track, but offroad, I'd trust 2 solid axles and a solid built F-Series over a POS rear diff and an IFS .

Hey BG06, you could put that in the kill section as a dmax kill

If he is chipped you'll need injectors and probably a turbo, and if he's got EFI you'd better go the whole 9yards... ok i'll stop.
LOL, don't stop, we love a good rant!

Point taken there, but let's be realistic. The fact is that most diesel owners are not buying their trucks for mud, or any off roading for that matter. It's a small percentage. We're buying them for great power and much better mileage vs the same power available in gas engines. We buy them to tow because of the obvious better job they do....the list goes on. I would be willing to bet that most of the diesels out there now that actually do go onto dirt for fun are sitting on a 300 foot dirt track strapped to a weight transfer sled.

I destroyed the rear end in my offroad truck, (Chevy 1500). Does well in the mud, but that G80 really is a POS.

I do have to disagree, I have seen many diesels w/ 6"-8" lifts and big tires going offroading in my area. I will agree that diesels are primarily bought for towing, but they do make the ultimate offroad truck.

That's fine, but do the math. The percentage is miniscule.

I am buying 84 wagoneer, and have a friend with a 1990 dodge with a diesel, I have made plans to buy the truck from him, put the motor in the Wagoneer and turn it into a great fourwheelin/ trail rig.

Don't forget the Bullydog Cummins that was on Pinks! They are a great motor enclosed by the worst pickup you can buy these days. Hopefully the new 6 speed auto tranny will help with some of their problems.
