Russ, it looks like it's a Rapid Hitch. If it is, it's rated at 10,000 lb. GTWR and 1,500 lb. tongue weight.

I have seen many of them in person and they are one bad mamma jamma of a hitch. They are also aluminum alloy so they aren't too heavy.

Bah, not a problem. OH hey! (off topic) i finally got a pic of me parked next to a Honda Fit I was looking at it and thought of how bad it would be if a car like that rearended me ... i'll post it up in that other thread with the smartcar pic if I can find it.

BTW, I'm getting a hitch asap after this thread, i got the rec. but there's nothing in it right now.

Thanks for the reply! No tongue weight penalty at all, it seems.

A few years ago I was heading onto campus in my ol' 98 F-150. We were at some stop and go "stop sign" traffic at around 5am. We were never going any faster than 5mph and not for very long. Well, the lady behind me in a little car something forgot one of the "not for very long"'s and hit me going about 5. I felt a little bump. We turn off into the parking lot and get out to inspect damage. I walk up to my rear bumper, lick my thumb, and wipe her paint off of the chrome. We then turn to her car and I help her rip the front clip off and put it in her trunk. She says "I guess that was my fault, huh? If you want to just pretend like this didn't happen, thats fine with me."
