You should see if that walmart has cameras in the parking. Here they do and if something happens they will let you look at the tapes. It would be funny to see who it was or what happened.

I had a scenario like this about 10yrs ago. I had a 5 gallon fuel can that was filled with waste JP4 from the low points on fuel bowsers. It was in the bed of the truck in a parking lot. Came out of the store and there sat an empty 5 gallon fuel can. I just chuckled and thought "Sucks to be you fella". Got in my truck and drove off.

I have no problem with this at all. Police use bait cars to trap car thieves. Why not teach thieves their is a consequence for stealing? If the criminal justice system won't do it, we sure as heck can.

Gave it a good shove back on, heard the locker click, wouldn't come back off, what the hell... let's drive.

But I didn't trust it, didn't want to get stuck on the road if it came off again, so I filled an old 5 gallon gas can up with water, and left it in the bed, just in case.

Stopped in wally world yesterday, was walking back out, and by golly that looks like my gas can, sitting on it's side in the parking lot. No water on the ground and it was empty... dang if somebody didn't go and put five gallons of water in their car.

I do a little lawn work as a side job. I had a couple of gas cans in the back of my truck that ended up empty one day. Next day I put one of the cans back in the box with a gallon of gas and a gallon of roundup mixed together. Two days later can was empty again. Day after that the neighbors car was getting towed out of thier parking spot. Wouldn't idle and was smoking. Cool part was we lived in a apartment and were moving to our first house that same weekend so I was gone before they figured out what happened to their car. This was about 15 years ago. I don't feel bad about it. Stealing is wrong period.
