PSD vs V-10

When i was young (17years old) and dumb i had a 96 f-350 reg cab long bed 4x4. A buddy of mine had a 99 f-250 4door long bed. My 96 was a SRW not a dually. I allways pulled other trucks and never been beat. So i thought HA a v-10 i got this in the bag. So there was like 30 people in the mall parking lot where we hanged out at. So i called him out and he said lets go. I said to myself he is going to look like a fool. When am pulling him backwards. So we hook up and we go he slowly started to pull me and then he was really pulling me. I was pissed so he pulled me. So i said one more time lets go again. He said allright. The 2nd time we hook up he then again started to pull me i said FU*K this and put it to the floor. I started to spin all my tires in 4L. The truck started hopping and then a lound BANG!!! that was the end of that he won twice. So that bang was the front axle snaped in half and broke a hub in the process. So 1200 dollars later and a fixed truck i relized what was i thinking that truck weighs so much more then i did no wounder he pulled me but it was in the heat of the momonet. So i learn 2 things dont EVER PULL ON BLACKTOP. DONT PULL TRUCKS THAT ARE NOT OF SAME SIZE. O well he got me that night i geussed he had the last laugh.

I don't understand why people buy V-10's any more all of our work vans are gas and I tried to talk my boss into buying diesel but he just doesn't get it. I get 9 to 13 mpg in the work rigs and they don't pull as well.

I think it's just the initial cost of a diesel versus the v-10 up front. So that's why I bought used, let someone else pay the premium!! Ha!
Good story Gear! I went to a pull-off after the Jamboree here in Indy in september. I saw many broken parts, 3 or 4 hubs went on psd's, some u-joints and other drivetrain components. It is a big test of your vehicle to pull on blacktop. It's very much in technique too, the right amount of braking and throttle to maintain traction and put your power to the ground as well as knowing when to quit the moment you start to spin or jump. Keeping traction and not spinning can get you the win even over a much higher powered truck. Some of the idiot morons that don't understand that kept shouting "let off your brakes!!" and crap into my ear. I had to explain to him that it defeats the purpose then cuz 9 times out of ten the heavier vehicle even though it might have less power will hold it's traction better and get the W. He called me a somethin like a smart guy, or know it all and crap like that. I almost had to introduce him to my 4-cell maglite's fury. Anyway, I would have hooked up to pull but I didn't have the money to cover a broken part, or else I would have.

I had to pull you i would look like a bi*th if i didnt. By the way that durmax had a fuel tank in the bed that was fuel on top of that. When i pulled it it stalled also. Pice of sh*t. But he did pull both of us that night. But if the wieght was not a facter it would have been pulled backwards. Hey f-250 man remeber when you pulled josh's Dodge and broke the hubs??
