I was at a gas station and heard a diesel make a WOT run past me. Noticed it was a d-max deully, but didn't give it much thought.
About 10 minutes later I'm going down the road and see the truck at the granger supply I was headed to. Stopped in, the guy had his hood open. I walk up to the guy to see what was wrong and see if I could offer some help. He said his truck went into limp mode. He didn't know jack about his tuner, but was really cool so I figured id help him out. Took a minute to figure out how to read/delete his code to get his truck running right.
He had an efi live tuner running a 120 tune. He asked what to do to keep it from happening again, so I told him he had a few options (1) keep his foot out of it (2) run a lower tune (3) buy a built tranny or, (4) the best option, buy a ford!
He proceeded to tell me that you the Allison is the best trans you can buy. I didn't have time to correct him, and he was pretty adamant about his trans being amazing, so I told him to surf some forums for about 2 weeks and give me a call.
The guy was really nice, and we ended up trading contact numbers because he needed some ac work done at his house, so it worked out smooth. I just feel sorry for him because he spent a boatload of money on tunes delete and intake that he can't use to its full potential. Oh well, you live and learn.
