'08 6.4 vs a cherokee SRT8
I just got back from lunch and on the way there I had a little fun with a SRT8, here's how it went down. We were both at a stop light turning left, he was directly behind me, once it turned green I pulled on out like normal and didn't think anything of racing. I got in the far lane and he got in the lane next to me, I could see in my mirror that he was going a little faster than me (around 40ish) while I was getting up to speed at around 30-35ish.
Right about the time he was in my blind spot I heard him romp on it so I did the same he was pulling a little on me all the way until about 85 when we let off. He finished probably a good 3 car lengths in front of me. It wasn't a apples to apples drag but it was fun and my first time to play with the truck since I installed my mods. Question is, will my 6.4 typically beat a stock srt8 cherokee? I had my mini maxx with my hot damn tune on wild so I still have Hot to go but didn't think of switching it. I also have a long bed and had just filled the tank with fuel. Not sure of the year for the srt8 or if any mods were done. Maybe I will see him around again and get a stop light launch drag instead of a uneven rolling start. What do you think? |

dont quote me on this but i think stock srt8 cherokees run like real low 13s so i dont think it would be close unless you boost lunched in 4 from the light

Yeah a boosted 4wd launch is probably the only way you'll get a little jump on him before he passes again. That cherokee is at least 2-3K lbs lighter than our trucks, Especially a F350 Long Bed, I know my truck weights in at 9100lbs on a daily basis. But its always fun to race, to see what you can do.

I kept up with one of those Trailblazer SS when I ran some b-code injectors but those srt8s are a lot faster than that.

Thanks for the replies! I was actually both shocked and not shocked that I "kinda" kept with him. I've never raced anyone with this truck but I know it's a lot faster than stock, I aslo hear about a tuned 6.4L is pretty dang hard to beat. I've never weighted my truck but with a full replacment bumper front and rear, along with a loaded toolbox, full tank of fuel and some 3 step Nfab side steps, I bet I'm pretty dang heavy!

You should definitely check out the weight on your truck, I bet you'll be shocked to see what the weight is. You normally wouldn't think that a truck would weigh 4-5 tons, but Ford definitely did something right with the F-series.

i bet if you dleted the dpf and got hotter tunes (im assuming you custom tun 6.4s) you could take him... arent those motors supposed to be able to touch 500 horse like that?

I did the DPF delete and I'm running the hot damn tune on wild so I think it's around 225hp. I think it would be a good race from a dead stop if I boosted and was in 4wd, other than that I think he would still pull on me a little, those little bastards are fast!

Boosted 4wd launch will help, but then again those Cherokee SRT8's are all wheel drive. The Cherokee SRT8 forums say about a 1.8 60 foot. They are definitely fast, but only average 10-14 mpg.
