Got to work this morning and there was about 12 brand new cars and trucks sitting there in the service drive, which for any of you who have never been around a dealership is great for the techs. Upon arrival every car goes through a PDI (pre delivery inspection) to test everything, make sure they are road safe, and to put on things like the hub caps, antenna, licence plate frames, ets. They pay 1.4 hours and are the cleanest, easiest work possible....
So figuring it was gonna be a halfway decent day, strolled into work, put on my uniform....and preceded to grab the coolest one there.....a 2007 shelby GT. It wasnt a GT500. it was the Shelby package GT with the upgraded motor (340 HP), factory short shifter, factory cold air intake, extra gauges, stiffer suspention, etc......basically a GT500 with a 340 HP motor in it. I do the normal inspection, check all the fluids, put on the rear licence plate frame and antenna.....and everything seems cherry....TIME FOR THE ROAD TEST!!!!!
Jump in it and fire it up. The car also has an upgraded exhaust, and just sounds SWEET!!! Pull it out of the shop, and even goosed it pulling out of the driveway for the dealer and got it a little sideways in the road.....i could tell this was gonna be a fun road test!! After about five miles of driving it, peeling out....having fun.....i came to a stoplight in a 55MPH speedzone. Of course i was going about 70....LOL....and went to hit the brakes...........

Pedal wont move.....wont push down at all.....nothing, no breaks. A full sized truck in front of me in each lane...already almost stopped....and i have no brakes!!! Just from the feel i instincively figured something was under the pedal.....the only place i had to go was the shoulder, and when i got there i almost pulled the Ebrake and thought better of it on a gravely shoulder. I swiped my foot under the pedal and something moved.....got on the brakes just soon enough to do a little good before the corner....a 90 degree corner i still ended up taking at 60MPH.....the brake pedal would not move all the way down now...but at least i had something........:drive:
Got the car around the corner and pulled it off of the road....got stopped, and checked WTF caused all this......WELL.....
These cars go to Las Vegas to the Shelby plant after production to get the stuff put on them that makes them a "Shelby".....Im guessing when the were wiring in the extra gauges.....a Ryobe flashlight...the kind that take an 18volt battery off of a drill.....was left under the dash evidently. it fell down perfectly between the pedal and floorboard at some point througout my hot rodding this brand new car.....and made it so the brake pedal couldnt be depressed. It all worked out good, and that was all just luck and instinct.....BUT O MAN did that make for a pucker facter day at work!!!!!
