The early 98s had plastic mirrors, and still had 12v...the truck in the pic is a 98.5 you can see from the pic is has the opening back doors/quad cab which the 12v did not. Get an SCT w custom tunes and you will blow his 24v out of the water!

early 98 12v had the quad doors, (back doors opened on both sides), i had one when i was on the dark side...

that is true to, cause i was on cummins forums before i bought a powerstroke and the 12v did have quad doors, they started making 24v in 98.5 and i cant really read that badge under the 2500, what does it say? and it is also true that the 12v had a mechanical fuel system and the 24v had electronic, and that horrible vp44 from 98.5-01 or 02

he told me that the block wasnt as good as some of the others made tht year, something about theylike to crack because of coolant passage issues?

That would be the "53" model of cummins block.

that is correct, the where a bunch of different blocks made for those trucks and "53" block was the one that cracks

ya that 24 valve will blow your doors off if yer stock, but with sct you will pound him pretty badly....

It wont "blow your doors off" It will be pretty close. Just make sure to launch good. If you get an SCT you will smoke him.
