John, I hope you're prepared to spend even more money. LOL When you start adding stuff, it's hard to stop. As far as the backup camera, I got mine on Ebay. They're really cheap. I think I paid about 80 bucks with shipping. The only issue is there seems to be a high DOA rate on them. I know a couple people who got them, and one of theirs had LEDs that didn't work. I scraped the glue out and fixed it for him. It was a bad solder joint, so there wasn't a lot wrong with it. Mine was intermittent at first. It would just have a black screen. I was going to try and send it back, but it started working fine, and it's worked perfectly for a couple months, so whatever the problem, it must have fixed itself.
This is the one I have:
LICENSE PLATE REAR VIEW CCD BACKUP NIGHT VISION CAMERA - (eBay item 140172509726 end time Nov-06-07 21:00:00 PST)
The seller I got mine from doesn't have any listed now. Mine came direct from hong kong, so that's probably why it was a little cheaper. There are some more name brand ones that cost more. Just search for license camera on ebay and you will find them. Just stay away from the CMOS camera models. They are junk.
As far as running the cable goes, the camera comes with about 20 foot of cable, but it's not enough. I drilled a hole through the license plate and ran the cable through a grommet. Then I ran it in wire loom up the frame rail and came through the cab behind the back seat through a factory grommet. The cable reached to the passenger side front door sill. I just used an inline coupler and an RCA cable to make up the rest of the length. I ran a hot wire from a switched ignition source to the same location and grounded to a nearby screw.
The Ford factory speakers are 6x8. You'll also need the wiring harness adapters. I installed 5.25 inch speakers on adapter plates with separate tweeters and crossovers. Mine are MB Quart QSD series and probably a lot more than you'd want to spend. They're a LOT more work to install that direct fits too. It will sound fine with just 5x7 coaxial speakers. Just spend a bit of money. I wouldn't buy anything that cost less than $100 a pair. Do you want to add amps and subs?
Let me know if you need any help. I've installed a few systems in super duty trucks, so I'm very familiar with how to run the wires and how everything comes apart. Maybe our next meet can be installing your stuff.
