Hey guys. I know NJ changed the whole inspection thing around. I guess now all you have to do is pass emissions. My 01 cam factory with no Cat. I dont know this means i dont have to do it or i just hope i pass. Or should i have no problem. Thanks guys

It used to be simple. Like Eric said, just re-register at 10,001 lbs and you were good, self-inspect. I know they did change the rules around a little, so you should probably look into it. They don't do an "emissions" test either way for diesels, it some kind of "smoke" test @ WOT.

Thanks for posting. I guess I can drop my F-250 GVWR down below the 10,001 and save a little $$ next years registration fee.

Not sure if it's gonna save any $ ? They'll prob charge the same for truck reg for either class?

Regular registration is around $71.50 and the 10,001 is $156.00. I did this years ago to bypass the BS inspection process. A colleague told me he forgot to place the new/current regiistration in his truck and went to have it inspected. The operator said " We don't check that" and he passed no problem wtf. I remember having to produce valid DL, registration, and insurance card to get through the door.

This is NJ though, I doubt they're gonna consider the Med. Duty (8500-10,000 lb) class "Reg. registration". I would bet they still make you pay for the "truck reg" $150.

Just looked at my current registration. Dealer screwed up and labeled it as a 7000 pound passenger vehicle. Fee was $98.

When I went to DMV the guy opened the door and said "8800 pounds and it's a 2004 - you're exempt. Carry this sheet with you in case an officer gives you a hard time".
