Help me decide what truck to buy!

Hello all, I am a new member from Tennessee looking to purchase a powerstroke. I am looking for a King Ranch, but am not sure which year I should buy. Obviously, the engine changed to 6.0L in 2003, correct? I have heard rumors that the 6.0 is not as good as the 7.3 was, what are you guys opinions? What years brought changes that I should be aware of? Please help me decide what I should buy, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am looking at 02-06 model trucks right now.

First, let me welcome you to the site! Glad to have you. Second, 02 was the last full year of the 7.3. I THINK there were a few in the first part of 03. I drive an 02 7.3. From my reading on here, there were a few issues with some of the first 6.0s but now there are cures for there ailments. I have heard that 05-06 have been rock solid. Again, just quoting past posts since I have no exp with the 6.0.

Welcome to the site TN. I've owned two powerstrokes in the past, both 7.3, and they both held up to some awsome abuse. At work I drive a 04 6.0 on occasion and it seems to be solid. Good luck shopping, I hope you find what youre looking for.

Welcome to the site. I have a 2000 with the 7.3 and love it. But what are you going to be using the truck for and are you planning on any upgrades? This might help some others with advice.

Thanks for all the replies so far! I will only be towing light loads such as me and my friends yamaha r6's and a maybe a car every once in a while. But for the most part, I will not be using this truck for towing. I would also like to add that I will be considering lifting the truck and adding the 18 wheeler wheels and tires, as I really like the way it looks. As I read more and more on this site, it appears that some believe the early 03-04 trucks had some issues with the 6.0. I have also read about the 7.3 having the weak transmission, but I will not be using this truck for heavy towing so I believe that would not effect me as much. Thanks for the suggestions and keep em coming!
