Yeah, anything with the 7.3 is solid, and the 6.0 while it still has its bugs is not a bad pick, but they tend to not like chips. The Cummins is pretty bulletproof, although in my opinion the truck around it is definately not.

i would go with a 99.5-2003 7.3.....they are rock solid and only have a few common issues....and those issued dont nessisarily effect every truck....they all have some common things with them....but the 7.3 is rock solid, plenty of power, and handles mods extrememly well......Marc

i agree with mark, 99.5 to 03's have the 2nd gen. 7.3, which is a great engine...i have a 2001 and its the best. i wouldn't buy the duramax; its an american truck, but its a japanese engine yucky poo! the only foreign diesel i would buy is a deutz and i dont think anybody makes a pickup with a deutz in it....happy shopping

you may find what you want on ebay...they have tons of newer 7.3's 250s and 350's. lots of colors and configurations.

it has a good body....but the suspention is not built for work.....it will not handle constant towing or off roading well at all....its been chevy's weak link for years.......Marc

i dont know about the new chevys but the older ones r off roading machines. with our 94 chevy 4x4 that we use for work (the one beside the F250 in my pic), that think can go through more in 2 wheel drive then any other pickup we have. like when we were fixing fence after 2" of rain, we were going throug cricks that came up to the bottom of the door and going up hills that we bottomed out going down. that pickup is a beast in mud, not the best in snow though

problem is...if you jacked that chevy in the air and checked everything out...odds out the outer axle tube seals in the front are leaking...the pitman and idler arms are shot....inner and outer tie rods are shot....and the ball joints are loose....they perform well and ride 10 times better than any ford truck....they just wear out easily...if i was going to buy a gas motor truck for average use...it would be a chevy hands down....if it was going to tow a lot or be worked hard....it would be a ford diesel.......Marc
