another Texas newbie

Hi, my name is Marc and actually I joined this Powerstroke forum last week and I am just now getting around to introducing myself. I'm retired and my hobby has been drag racing, since 1964. I haven't seriously competed with a race car in the last 15 years but I am building a 1961 Ford Starliner for Nostalgia Super Stock now. It probably won't be finished for another 1-2 years. My retirement pension is not all that great

I bought my first diesel truck in 2003. Yeah............6.0 Powerstroke.

I have heard all the complaints and curses about the 6.0 engine, but I can honestly say that the only problem I have had with my engine is the turbo. Unfortunately for me I am now on my 4th turbo

. I hope I can resolve the problem before my warranty runs out in 17 months

See my thread in 6.0 problems Forum. I don't plan to ever sell my truck because I like it and it is faily unique being a Standard Cab F-350 dually. It looks good........and it's fast (when the turbo is working correctly

), and those are the two most important characteristics for me in a vehicle.

I also have the 03 6.0 and i havne't had any issues so far (knock on wood) and I have 62k miles on her now. Some are lemons and others are fine...fewer lemons than the good ones i think.
Get on it regularly and let that turbo spool hard and maybe that will make it last longer. Honestly, i have been told that that is what these turbos need to keep them operating right.

Thanks for the welcome guys!!! Yeah CHenry the techs at the dealership have told me I need to drive it more often. It only has 19,000 miles on it now, but with 4 other cars in my collection to drive...............and I do work the turbo VERY hard every time I drive it.
