Newbie from Oregon
Hi everyone, I just realized you have an into page. I don't belong to any other sites so this is all new to me. I don't have a diesel right now of my own but hopefully before too long I will be converting a 78 F350 from a 460 to a Cummins. Not sure what tranny I will use yet. Maybe an Allison. I have been following along about the new 6.4 PS and it sounds like it may be a great engine, biggest problem I see is it has so many systems, just more things to go wrong. I work at 4x4 shop and we work on 6.0's some, we have a Modis scanner for troubleshooting. We also install exhaust, programers, air intakes, etc. The 6.0 is awesome when it works but it has been a real nightmare for some of our customers. Many of them have switched to Dodge or Chevy. I wish they had just modified the 7.3 to new specs. Everyone loves the 7.3. I'm a die hard Ford fan but the 6.0 and 6.4 have me leanin towards a Dodge. I'm in the market for a new diesel and would love a 4x4 F450, put a single tired bed on it, lift it with a Kelderman kit, convert it to single tires, Order it up with the 300 amp alternator pakage and rapid heater, and then I woke up.
