Hey from NW Washington

Hey all, I'm Geoff from Washington. I'm currently on the (long) search for a nice used 7.3 Powerstroke. I've cruised and searched all the forums but settled on this one as it looks like the best mix of people and info. I've got a couple of questions...if looking to mod it do I want an earlier model for the different rods? I'm only looking at basically: gauges, exhaust, intake, IC, chip and something with the turbo (a new wheel, van turbo, or possibly a new housing) it'll be a daily driver and see some towing of bikes/trucks. I come from a mechanical background so working on it isn't an issue. Also with things like the foil delete do you run into heatsoak issues because of the exposed pipe?

Where in Washingtom are you at?
With those mods I wouldn't worry to much about the rods. 02-03 seem to be the best for stock hp/torque. But they are also around 20k+. The foil delete just makes it so you can here the turbo whistle more. I did it on mine didn't make that much of a difference, but it made it look cleaner under the hood. As for the heat soak, no. Good luck on your search!!

Great to have ya aboard. With just those mods, just find one ya like. If you plan on doing some bigger sticks or something like that, I would want the forged rods, but with just the stuff that you mentioned, it wont matter much. But, if you need help on your search for mods, let us know and we can help ya.
