Ohio new guy
Well, I finally bought one.
I have a 84 Chevy that is built as a woods/work truck and it has been faithful and has taken a beating. 1 ton springs, 4 speed w/granny, 205 gear transfer case, full floater with a Detroit locker and 4:10 gears. She is for sale and will be missed, it has served me well.
I wanted more room to store and transport gear and the truck is not really great to drive anywhere more than an hour away. More power to haul over a cord of firewood plus a trailer was also something I wanted. I have been looking for a diesel for awhile now and have looked for a cummins 12V or a ford.
Autotrader and craigslist are saved as my favorites on my laptop and I finally found a powerstroke. Early 99 with a 6 speed. 188,000 miles supercab, longbed, 4wd. It is a work truck and the interior needs attention and there is a dent in the bed and the tailgate is messed up. I am going to use it as an upgraded beater so I am not looking for a show truck.
Here is the good part. My brother and I were taking it for a test drive and the wipers made the engine cut out. As we all know that is either a CPS or a multifunction switch. I got the guy down to 4K. I told him that mechanically I will mess with a truck but chasing electrical gremlins is not my thing. At the time I thought it was a switch then I found out about the CPS after I bought it. I think for a work truck from the Memphis area ( no rust ) I got a good deal. It sure isnt pretty and I need to put about $500 into it but overall I am pleased with the purchase.
This website is great and I have learned a lot from it. Great bunch of people helping other people out.
