Greetings from Georgia
Where do I start? As you can tell from my user name, we are headed for Alaska come June. As of yet, I have not purchased a truck, but I have made up my mind that a
 is the only way to go. I'll be getting an F250 or F350 and will be installing a mild lift (6"), intake, exhaust and chip within a short period of time as well as a camper top. There's a shop (Leadfoot Diesel Perfomance) just down the road from where I live and he LOVES to mod 6.0's. As a side note, has anyone ever dealt with Gibson Truck World in Florida? From what I can tell, they seem to be the best place to buy a used truck when it comes from purchasing from a dealer. They list all of the parts that have been replaced and give a 12 month bumper to bumper warranty with a 15 day, no questions asked return policy. Their prices seem to be fair. I'd appreciate any input. Welcome to the .Org I've made the trip up to Elmendorf from Texas, and back all the way here to Moody. If you got any questions just let me know.
You deffently want to get your lift before you get to Alaska, because you'll pay almost 300 more for it up there. Shipping! Oh, you'll need mud flaps in Alaska, some cops care, so might want to make some quick detach type of set up. Luckly your going in the summer so you won't have to worry about snow. You'll just have all the campers to deal with. Also, BUY A MILEPOST. It's a book set up just for driving from the Lower 48 to Alaska. Has all kinds of good info, how many gas stations, hotels, places to eat, & ect.
